If we give up KOQ, no deal gets done with Chicago without 2 firsts. Valentine is a role player at best lets be honest.

I'd do Rondo+ Niko+ Valentine (wanted him in the draft)+ your highest 2017 1st+ 2019 1st for Melo + KOQ

--Mags

I'll take KOQ out then. For sure not adding a 1st just for him.

How about Rondo Niko Valentine a 1st for Melo and whoever fits the salary?

no. Rondo's year has another year attached and that pick won't even be top 15.

Team option. He can be cut and Niko is expiring to free up around 22M for you all.

You guys are delusional If you think Melo is going to garner even 1 first round pick let alone 2. Phil will give him away if he has to. It's all about Melo willing to leave.

Knicks trade: Melo/Rose/Noah/2017 2nd
Nets trade: Lin/Lopez/Heavily protected 2nd

This is essentially 2 trades: Noah for 2nd (eats up Brooks remaining cap space) and Melo/Rose/2017 2nd for Lin/Lopez. I believe this works with cap rules.

For years the Nets have been about adding "big names" to their roster to appear relevant. Overall, they become a bit better which lessens the value of the picks they still have outstanding. IF they can lessen the value of all the picks Boston owns, Boston has a smaller chance of becoming dominate. Brook at the moment is NOT a FA destination, and for the most part needs names to fill the seats until they can reset. At this point Melo is about staying in NY (not necessarily with the Knicks) so he is more likely to approve a trade.

NY pieces together a team that fits better around Porz, while clearing cap space in the process. Ridding Noah is a HUGE plus. Lin is a better fit at PG, while Lopez is a clear upgrade at C.

The Nets have been rumored to want two first round picks for Lopez.....and while I think that's not obtainable, there's no way they are going to do the opposite and take on salary and aging players. The next two years they really have nothing for youth and potential, if they are moving Brooke it's for a really good young player and change or picks and change.

NY isn't moving Noah without attaching their first round pick from this year, his deal, his play, his body are that bad.

Detroit Trades:
T.Harris
I.Smith
M.Morris
S.Johnson

Recieves:
K.Love
I.Shumpert
L.Thomas (NY)

Clev. Trades:
K.Love
I.Shumpert
D.Liggins
2-2nd Rd pick (NY)

Recieves:
Melo
Ish Smith

NY trades:
Melo
Lance Thomas
2-2nd Rd Pick

NY Recieves:
T.Harris
M.Morris
S.Johnson

My bad I got caught up doing other things.

For Cleveland, Melo may no longer be better than Love overall, but he brings more to the table when it comes to playoffs and clutch. He basically becomes your best catch and shoot player with passes coming from LBJ that would be something special. LBJ has also been complaining about having a play maker off the bench and Ish definitely fits the bill. The biggest thing they lose is rebounding.

For Detroit, without hitting the reset button, pairing KLove/ Drummond would be a nice fit in Detroit, and to add a defender like Shump would be killer next to KCP. DeAndre Liggins may not be the play maker Ish is but he plays hard and also can bring the Defense. This squad could give the top teams in the East a run for their money. I've always said the Det. was one piece away from really competing and Love is that piece. Lance Thomas is also no slouch and can defend multiple positions.

For NY, I would miss Melo, but feel that it's time to feed off the youth. T.Harris should have signed here as a free agent when he signed his contract, but I don't feel thing would have went well playing next to Melo. Morris has played with Jeff and yeah they had some spats, but he played well underneath him. Johnson needs a reset button

Second trade would be:

Rose
Vujacic

For
Rubio
J.Hill
Pekovic

For NY, Rubio is the passer KP and Willy need, Pek can retire out and Hill is another Big butt off the bench.

For Min, Their main issue is to get Dunn and Jones playing time, Rose would just be that expiring contract along with Vujacic.

Knicks Lineup
Rubio/Jennings
Lee/Holiday
Harris/Morris
KP/Kuz/Hill
Hernangomez/K.O/Noah

This is the deal I envisioned happening from the beginning of this whole hoopla. No need for Valentine but Rondo/Niko or Taj/Picks is good.

I'm not so sure the players agree anymore with all the kerfuffle in Chicago with their management team. The stars may want out.

FCUK BULLZ MELO FOR NORMAN POWELL WIN WIN

I like Valentine as a prospect but not sure of the fit he is another player who needs defenders around, Valentine + pick is not bad but there are better situations for Melo and us, I am riding those Toronto Utah Memphis trains hard til dday

Nothing good is going to happen. Melo will be a knick for the next 2 years. This team will fail to do anything good/smart for the next 5 years or so. Dolan will continue to be in charge and **** will continue to suck.

How long until the next presidential election so I can be mad about something else

Knicks give Rose
Portland gives Evan Turner (or Crabbe) and '17 1st round pick(Memphis)

Portland gets some salary relief, Knicks gets a 20-something pick in a deep draft.
Its not like the Knicks will be free agent destination anytime soon, so cap space doesn't matter.
Good idea?

Honestly, this isn't bad (and it goes back to what a bunch of us wanted - taking on bad contracts to get picks). I'd try to add Lance Thomas to the deal, but if Portland is willing to do that, sign me up!

@WojVerticalNBA: Sources on @TheVertical: Portland sends Denver center Mason Plumlee and '18 2nd-round pick for Jusuf Nurkic and '17 first-rounder (via Griz) ... is that real?

Yessir. Damn good trade for Portland (and I'm a fan of Plumlee). That first round pick is nice and Nurkic has shown he can produce when he's given minutes.

I don't like Denver giving up the first round pick, but Plumlee and Jokic make for a HIGH level passing front court (and I think Plumlee can play next to Jokic, unlike Nurkic who couldn't).

Nono, you're thinking of Jokic, who's untouchable.
