Speaking about the trade kicker ... there has been no mentions of that anywhere. Do we know if he waived it or anything ?

It got paid by the Mavs, someone posted the details. That was 1.5 days and hundreds of pages read, so I have no idea where I saw it. :D

here you go:

Hardaway’s trade kicker was for 15% of the money left on his contract, not including any option years. That meant that the bonus would apply to the rest of this season’s prorated salary ($6,851,695) and all of next season’s salary ($18,150,000). Those figures add up to $25,001,695, and 15% of that amount is $3,750,254. That’s the amount of THJ’s bonus.

For salary cap purposes, a trade bonus is split up and applied equally to each non-option season, meaning Hardaway’s cap hits for this season and next season each increased by $1,875,127. Here’s what those changes look like, as Jeff Siegel’s cap sheet at EarlyBirdRights.com shows:

2018/19
Old cap hit: $17,325,000
New cap hit: $19,200,127
2019/20
Old cap hit: $18,150,000
New cap hit: $20,025,127

KD couldn't win it with Westbrook. What makes us so confident about the prospects of him pairing up with Kyrie?

More like realistic. We all like to think people want to come here because we’re New Yorkers/fans of the team...there is no logical reason for a star player in their prime to come to this franchise though. Just gotta hope we get Zion and he’s the next generational talent

False. Perry just cleaned up this franchise in one year. That was almost an impossible task and he did it. We have a legit GM now that stars will take seriously. So, no, the franchise is not a joke any longer. You have to get your house in order to attract talent. We've done that.

Are you really going to be that simplistic that you can't discern the obvious differences between a competent, seasoned executive like Perry and an arrogant Phil Jackson with no executive skills?

Our current roster and cap status is due to Perry while Jackson gave away the farm to Melo with that NTC, gave Noah an obscene contract.

Saying they are remotely similar is ridiculous. The franchise under Perry is a completely different organization now.

Signing kd and kyrie don’t got to be the ticket. We could take on a contract for a pick. More than once. We could sign reclamation projects. A desirable role player. And trade them later.

The knicks have a clean slate. No financial obligations. All our picks. Plus some more. I’ve never seen this before from the knicks.

This is what I meant about kp not fitting our timeline. A financial obligation with absolutely nothing to surround him with and little flexibility. The rebuild starts now. Right now. This is a slow process. You’re talking like four years.

If you’re expecting instant gratification you’re going to be disappointed. We’re not even constructed to compliment kyrie and kd. We have a glut of points and wings.

For myself personally I’m getting a little tired. I’ve been watching bad knicks basketball longer than good now. It’s gotten to the point that I’m not sure why I’m wasting my time. I have other more productive things to do than waste time on a non entertaining product.

But these guys are actually setting up to start from the ground up. Which just has never happened. And there’s been many times I wish we would. It’s that hook to keep you in.

Agreed, signing 2 max cats is not the only way.

It comes down to this perhaps. What happens in the draft first, then comes free agency.

Basically, what I think Perry has done is set the plate so that if they do hit the jackpot and land Zion then they would be confident that adding two max cats does put them into almost immediate contention and a longer rebuild wouldn't be necessary.

If they don't hit the jackpot, then they can hold off on big signings and map out a longer term asset accumulation strategy.

This gives them flexibility and choices.

You could see lots more of the one year deals if they don't go max cat this time.

Actually, we have 74 million and 1 logical reasons why a star player would come here.

It's virtually a blank slate. He won't have to fit into an existing team but can build his own dream team however he wants. We have the cap space for him AND a star buddy FA to come on a max contract, then other NBA buddies who aren't on the "Gotta join LeBron to win" bandwagon to come to the easier eastern conference. Oh, and he'd be coming to a team with (likely) the #1 or #2 2019 draft pick.

I get it. KNICKS fans have been so disappointed over the years, we always think things won't work out for us. However, this is the first time it actually looks LEGIT and nearly every pro analyst in sports is even saying so.
