I wish him well, as long as we get a lottery pick in 2021 and DSJ pans out.

(I agree with your analysis overall)

I remember these arguments.

They may turn out to be true for his entire career. KP's still within that Randle/DLo/DSJr arc. Did the Knicks pull the plug and avoid a max on a guy who'll be good, but not the kind of good where that money should get tied up, but also WHEN it got tied up, in terms of arc the rest of the rebuild etc? Or will they have blown it, where KP finished off the project that is himself and takes it up a level?

Scouting is always a big deal; feels like internal scouting and assessment more important than ever, as teams commit to developing 19 year old guys for 3,4 years, then have a big decision to make as they get that large paying contract after rookie scale.

Gone unnoticed in the post KP trade hubbub and the Knicks FA "strikeout" and "other signings"

Knicks ACTUALLY GETTING TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE KINDS OF DECISIONS AT ALL, AS A FRANCHISE

They Knicks actually got to decide if a KP was worth it
Knicks actually got to make a trade of a good young player for another good young player AND picks
Knicks actually cleared cap space
Knicks actually had a chance to get in on FA's, and the big names at that
Knicks actually have a year where they get to see if DSJr can put it together
Knicks actually have a year where they get to see if Fank can get it together
Knicks actually tanked and got a top 3 pick
Knick fans get to see how a top 3 pick does as a rookie
Knicks had a chance to get in on "2nd draft" high end player like Randle
Knicks theoretically could have tried to get in on DLo - they didn't, but it was vaguely possible instead of totally impossible

I'm sure they are counter argument etc. I get they DIDN'T tank for Donic and got their tank on a year late, but some good stuff happened and is happening.

Well, as long as we're going to continue to entertain this topic, I have some bad news for everyone. KP is going to beast in Dallas and end up a Hall of Famer and win a ring or more. He and Doncic and are going to be great together. Players are going to flock there because they'll all want to play with Doncic and, as I'm sure you are all aware, NBA players LOVE Mark Cuban.

It's painful enough. Knicks should have tanked for Donic. They didn't. They made a decision on KP, or he forced a decision that they then reacted to. All things considered, the Knicks were left in pretty good shape considering they lost MAYBE a franchise player. Or maybe he isn't. And that's also part of the debate, also given tons of keystrokes.

I mean, the Gallo/Chandler vs Melo thing went on for YEARS. I mean, the last vestiges of the argument still come up at times. Or Melo bashing going on for years.

Just trying to keep more of it here. For multiple reasons.

LOL, that is the best case scenario , it could happen...but KP will need to be healthy and learn to rebound and pass. On tap of that Dallas has zero depth. I believe the Knicks will thrive before them.

You said they wanted to play for Doncic, you didn't mention KP. What big FA's have gone to Dallas?

I have no idea if they will be great together because it's been shown that KP cannot stay healthy. And while I think Doncic is great, people are crowning him way too early. I also have no idea if players love Cuban.

Perhaps I was unclear. Yeah, I meant them together. I said that free agents would/should flock to Dallas not that they did.

Pretty sure they had around 30m. Maybe not enough for a max, but that's a decent amount of space.

A man that is known now as a woman abuser/ possible rapist and is never healthy and people here complain because the Knicks didn't make him the face of the franchise? How many times did Walt, King, Ewing, and Melo have allegations against them?

They signed Seth Curry. How many players flock to a team with $30m? You fill out a roster with that type of space, not sign big time players, which is what they did.

Well, all I can see is that from 2000-14, the Mavs were one of the most successful franchises in the NBA. Yeah, they''ve had some trouble rebuilding the last 4 years years. Not a bad track record. If it's true that black players don't want to play in Dallas, I haven't read or heard about that. I just read that "players" love playing for him, as an owner.

However, perhaps the best indication of the players' loyalty to their owner came in the celebration after the Mavericks won the title.

Cuban was right there along with his team, and his players embraced and reveled in the jubilation with him like a brother.

There is no better statement of admiration and love than that.

Cuban is a lowkey racist but this isnt really a topic I care to discuss. Just had this convo a few weeks ago.
