Georgia has been open for like a month now and their numbers continue to improve.

Dumbass, Georgia had the 10th most new cases yesterday out of all 50 states and they are looking to be top 5 today. They are 11th out of 50 states in total cases. C'mon man.

Yeah, turns out, if you just do the opposite of what the experts are saying (e.g. share public gym equipment, go back to the bars and restaurants, movies theaters, etc.), the virus disappears just like Trump said it would. Amazing. The Costanza Rule!

That's not even relevant. Georgia has the 8th most active cases in the US. If they have less hospitalizations, they got lucky. You have to get the total #s down, not just deaths. Not all cases are severe, but that's irrelevant when it comes to spreading it to other people.

Don't be a snowflake :D

All kidding aside, hope it works out for them. If I lived there, I wouldn't be participating right away, and won't here in northern Va.
Do I go outside? yeah
Do I go to a supermarket? Yeah, only when I have to. That's reasonable risk.
Would I go to a bar, restaurant or movie theater? Not only no. But f*ck no.
Will that impact some peoples livelihoods, based on my action and the action of others? I guess so. Tough luck.
No one ever said that sh*t is mandatory.
I was barely into those activities anyway. Can drink alcohol, make food and watch movies in better and nicer conditions at home, 90% of the time. I'll pass on that 10%.

I'll admire the bravery of everyone who wants to crowd together without a mask. Thanks for taking one for the team. I'll check things out next spring.

I wouldn't be against this easing with a more comprehensive testing and tracking regimen, but apparently things like that are way beyond the capabilities of the US of A anymore, while Korea, China and Vietnam finds it relatively easy to accomplish.

Damn near 100k dead in less than 90 days and you’re peddling an insensitive position from privilege. People aren’t “fine” while being “out and about” either. Look no further than Alabama, Missouri, and Texas as recent examples. Or better yet, go volunteer at your local medical facility for a better understanding on the pandemic.

Earth, where there are 5.5 million confirmed cases globally and over a 250k deaths. What cave do you live in?

Luckily America where people were out and about enjoying their Memorial Day weekend.I will say everyone is pretty ticked about the local layoffs and furloughs, specifically the healthcare workers. However the overall mood was good and we were at a well attended BBQ. The only shame was we were forced to watch Tom Brady golf.

You speak for all 330M+ Americans? Imagine that...

Go to Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Missouri, Alabama, or any other area experiencing a spike in cases and death to see if everything is happy-go-lucky. This includes healthcare workers, as you cited.

The next time you decide to speak on the behalf of others, consider that your point of view is of someone who is lucky to have such privilege. Not everyone's experience is aligned with your own.

The difference is I'm not the that proclaimed that "[all] people were out and about enjoying their Memorial Day weekend" in an effort to downplay the complexities of the pandemic and marginalize the reality of the situation to "fear mongering".

The idea I floated in the original thread was to promote and "Freedom Wins!" rock and roll tour featuring Ted Nugent and Kid Rock which would stop in each of the largest closed-in arenas around the county. Particularly in the south. Of course, the concert goers would have to remain in quarantine for two weeks without tests, masks, sanitary gloves, and ventilators. But they'll be plenty of food, beverages, and beds ... well, we may be a little short not he beds.

They'll show everyone who the true Patriots are. They're always talking about natural selection so it would be very patriotic of them to step up to the plate and show the world what Americans can do when they when they put their "minds" to it.

You know hospitals stopped elective surgeries because of covid right? Medical facilities not being full shows how effective social distancing works.

You are conflating things bro! Yeah, social distancing works well. They B practicing it in Sweden too!

But many people are afraid to go the hospital for EVERYTHING. Why you think so many got laid off or are on furlough?

CV19 didn't overwhelm our hospitals like dey planned 4, which is good. But all those people out of work in hospitals because people are no longer going when they have other problems is BAD. Even MSM reported dat.

Shameless plug for my podcast, every episode hits a variety of topics in politics, pop culture and news (we try to mix humor with informative ish and perspectives). We've been doing a lot of Coronavirus stories, the entire first third of the latest episode. It covers our experiences as restrictions loosen, improving news we've gotten from our friends working in hospitals and some specific stories. Namely, the research out of Columbia that suggests locking down a week earlier would have saved 36,000 lives.

https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-fans-perspective/e/69884787?autoplay=true

There are other topics covered too: the Arbery case, Tekashi's terrible single, Biden's "You ain't black" comment and a wild story about an NFL player nearly getting shot by accident, so check us out if yall are interested. Sidenote: Episode 53 had a lot of COVID info and discussions too; a month old now but it got a lot of love.
