Re: KNICKS - Houston PG
Let me say this, I hope this organization doesn't put Quickley in a box as a bench player long-term.
You can definitely make the argument Quickley deserved to start earlier this year. Since the Rose trade, he now has not one but two nominal PGs playing ahead of him as Rose entered the game for Payton before him.
i don't want to put those expectations on IQ but he reminds me a little of Billups and CJ. The jumpshot, the ability to draw fouls and the quick first step are a deadly combination. Now it's on the Knicks to develop his playmaking skills.

I don’t even really think a pg helps him.. he need to just improve his overall game.. can’t shoot if he’s wide open consistently.. has no burst on drives.. can’t finish
When he goes cold on finishing, it's like the Monstars ran up on him. He is that bad in his depths.

Lost in all this tonight was that I think Payton played his first legitimately good game in a few weeks.

RJ really should be coming off the bench with the 2nd unit. Part of his struggle is due to poor spacing with the starting 5. I would let Burks start and let Rose, Quickley, Barrett Toppin and Gibson come in as the 2nd unit.

What is it with people insisting that IQ has to be a traditional PG or a starter? He is a complimentary guard who can be the playmaker and off ball scorer. He is thriving as a bench player right now so why mess with a good thing? A great 6th man sometimes is better than a good starter. Ask the Clippers.

I like that he's scoring but I don't like that they seem to have put him being a playmaker on the back burner. I would rather he struggle and learn how to run an offense, than him to just be boxed into the Lou Williams role. We're still going to need a PG if that's the plan, Rose is too old to be part of any real long term plans.

Not even slightly worried about that. IQ's talent and potential is really sky is the limit... You can't teach shooting and this kid can shoot marbles into a snapple bottle.

RJ missing shots around the rim is really disappointing. That is his strength typically

No, the Knicks need to bench Payton first, before RJ.
And then RJ can have better spacing around him but in the starting 5.
It's Thibs's insistence on starting Payton ahead of Quickley and now Rose that's the biggest issue.

Idk what to tell you if you don’t believe in Obi, Mitch, IQ, and RJ.

IQ is more CJ MCCollum than anything. A combo guard who can play point guard in spurts. He’s thriving now playing next to Rose.

It's just bad bounces not going his way right now. He doesnt look terrible. I'm not sure why so many are overreacting.
He's in a tiny funk, he'll be fine.

RJ surrounded by non shooters never was a recipe for success. Still is not. I’m chillen on RJ. Once he gets back to his mid range game and to play with a better flow he will be fine.

RJ just needs Payton to be traded. Hes a cancer to everyones game because he cant shoot whatsoever. Moving RJ to the bench because Payton sucks is silly. Address the damn 800lb elephant in the room and get rid of this guy already... Especially if there really are teams of interest smh
