He’s going to have to learn how to be effective in a somewhat smaller role. Not saying he won’t go full on Rozier flamethrower at times but he ain’t in Charlotte anymore. Melo made a good point that he hasn’t seen him play well next to other high usage stars IE: Brown & Tatum. Between Jimmy, Bam, Herro and Jaquez plenty of guys need their diet of shots. Is Rozier guaranteed to be such a seamless fit with the ability to know when he has to score and when he has to play make for others? We shall see over these next 38 games.

im not losing sleep over him. hes like a mini kelly oubre. i think brogdon would be a far better fit for us.

The best part is we could potentially get these guys for next to nothing. We’ll have to see. Brogdon may just cost Fournier and a 1st. Hayward could be free.

Grimes did look great tonight though. He can definitely be useful if we need some extra D on a guard, but he’s got to be assertive on O. OG cant defend everyone (or can he?). I just dont know where Grimes’ minutes come from if we get another guard.

Donte also looked amazing tonight. Just about a perfect fit with the starters. Scrappy and wet as hell. We cant bench this dude.

Deuce is showing new things and hitting Js. I like his moxy and maybe he has some more potential than we think.

I just cant see our front office wanting Dejounte at the price he’s commanding. How could Leon possibly make a trade for a risky dude like him the way this team is playing now? We only need a bit more creation off the bench. Dejounte is not needed for that.

Brogdon makes the most sense by far when you take his play style, size, demeanor, contract, experience, and how Portland doesnt need him into account. The only concern is injuries, but if we got him cheap who cares? Keep him rested until the finals. It just seems like Grimes would be going out for him because where is he going to play behind Brogdon?

It's time to call the Bulls bluff and offer them both our 24 FRPs for Caruso.

Brunson: So what are you paid to do?

Clarkson is garbage. He's even worse than Rozier and that's saying a lot.
He's a brick machine and is a door on defense.

Why on earth would you prefer him over Grimes?

Here’s what I keep going back to:

Any of these guards we’re talking about getting would take most, if not all, of Grimes and Deuce’s minutes.

Like Caruso, Brogdon, Clarkson, Brown, Burks etc would essentially take the backup PG and SG spots from them.

So whats the point of keeping Grimes if we get Caruso? They’re similar 3/D players. We wouldn’t give up picks for Caruso and only play him 15 mpg.

I like Grimes but it feels like we’re going to trade him to save a 1st, and because he wouldn’t play as much anyway behind these guys. We’re gonna just keep him for insurance? Thats what Deuce would be for.

There's levels to this =) Leon's going to pay market value or he's going to pass. No more NYK premium pricing.

Add Hayward in with all of them

Derozan?

Murry is the missing link.
It moves Donte to lead the 2nd unit. Allows Brunson to take a break at the point. He is a lengthy defender, athletic, and can play/ guard the 1/2 positions.

Fournier, Grimes + 2FRP

Brunson (36)/Murry(12)
Murry(22)/Donte(26)
OG (24)/Jhart(24)
Randle (36)/OG (12)
IHart (24)/Mitch(24)

Your 3 headed rotation at 1/2 is Brunson/Murry/Donte
Your 3 headed rotation at 3/4 is OG/Hart/Randle. Little small there before of Hart but he will only play the 3. OG can play the 4 without an issue.

9 man rotation !! That is legitimate lineup. We can def make push for top 3 in the East.

I know he wants to probably get paid one more time but man thinking of all the talk about how DeRozan wants NY... He'd be a PERFECT 6th man scorer/distributor for this team who can finish games when he's hot. If he's willing to accept that role it could be a game changer.

Insulate him defensively with McBride, Grimes, and Hart on that unit. When Mitch gets back he could play backup C.

Fournier + Grimes for Derozan
Worth the risk and the chance to go deep in the PO this year.

As long as we're going so well, and with Mitch and IHart in the wings waiting, not obsessed with necessity of making a mid year move anymore. Of the buyout guys maybe Hayward to provide points off the bench makes most sense.

I’d love it. It’s because Brunson can shoot. So with the ball in DeRozan’s hand, Brunson remains a threat, but he can coast a little sometimes. DeRozan is a great player and he would also take the ball out of Randle’s hands. Randle as a finisher and catch & shoot guy (if he insists on shooting outside shots) is better than Randle dribbling the ball. DeRozan could also lead the second unit at point guard, even though he’d start too. I think it makes a lot of sense, even though Bridges would be a lot better obviously.

Murray’s playmaking is a fit just like DeRozan’s. Assuming his shooting isn’t a fluke, that would be another great fit. He isn’t a shooting guard though, not even for stretches. Can’t guard them and can’t play off the ball. He’s a pure point guard. That’s what you’re getting and that isn’t really a seamless fit. You’d squeeze it in.

Atlanta by all indications wants to shed serious payroll.

They want Capella 45M over the next 2 off the books.

They want Murray's 100M off the books.

If we were willing to include Mitchell Robinson we could probably get Murray for 1 'lesser to mid tier' FRP.

Grimes, Fournier, Mitchell Robinson and 1FRP for Capela, Murray and AJ Griffin.

Mitchell with his declining 'meager' 13M AAV contract is extremely marketable.

Capela while not Mitchell Robinson is not cooked as that entire team is just not performing well under Quinn. Thibs got IHart playing phenomenal defense, I think Clint would be a pretty decent defender here behind IHart. Clint can be used in a deal this offseason for the big fish trade as well.

Capela also allows IHart to rest/load manage that achilles more too...

Ask for Bey…

Could be all part of the negotiating theatre being played out in the media bro.

But we are going to soon find out.

Another supposed rumor....

According to @espn_macmahon
the cost for Tyus Jones to the Knicks would be multiple 2nds. And according to @TimBontemps
the Knicks are eyeing Daniel Gafford. Would a deal of
Sims + EF + WAS 24 + 3 2nds for Jones and Gafford be a win for both teams? Yes or No?

Not buying it bc Tyus is short, not really a combo guard and on an expiring contract
he’s a bench player not a starter (tyus) …I’d love that trade

Me too. Gafford is nice. It sets up a trade of Randle and Mitch in the offseason, so count me in.
