It's an absolute joke and a fcking disgrace. At the very least, both candidates should be not just intelligent, but supremely so. It should be the bare minimum. We're not even remotely close with these two.
About a decade ago, I read "The Wisdom of John Adams," written by our second president. The man was profound, intelligent, empathetic, and philosophical. And this is what our leader should be, someone who embodies all the best human traits. Where we are now? I can't even comprehend how this happens.
There must be a sht ton going on behind the scenes that I can't even fathom. In some way, all this must benefit those behind the curtains, for whatever their reasons are. This is the part that frustrates me the most. Because we'll never know just how much wool is being pulled over our eyes. It sure as fck doesn't make sense on the surface. These are not the best men we have.
I'm pretty sure nobody will try to convince you of that. I'm a democrat and I'm disappointed.
I'm disappointed on both sides. I'm disappointed in the republican voters for falling in love with Trump (not all of them, as many as 20% voted for Nikki Haley even after she dropped out of the race) and I wish my Dems had a better candidate than Biden. He wasn't my choice going into 2020, but he won, and I voted for him, but I didn't really like him. I think he's done an above average job as president, but I still don't like him in office.
I don't like the primary system. The problem on the democrat side, is that the time for Biden to have dropped out was before the primaries. Dropping out now creates a great big mess. He's also a really good fundraiser. I 100% get not liking him, but I think we're stuck with him, and we just have to do better in 2028. Traditionally, the Democrats have been pretty good at picking the hot young up-and-commer. JFK, (LBJ was different, he inherited the job), 72 was a mess, then Carter, Mondale did poorly, but I liked him, The Duke, Clinton, Gore was kind of grandfathered in and he actually won that election - cept for the butterfly ballot cheat), Kerry (Dean should have won, it was just a bad camera setup that cost him), Obama. Hillary in 2016 was weird, not popular, but Bernie's challenge came too late. Biden in 2020 was kind of the safe pick, but I hope in 2028 the Dems go back to finding the rising star. They did that quite well between Kennedy & Obama.
Between now and then, I think we just have to pick the lesser of two evils, and this election, that's not even close. One of the candidates is actually evil.
God invented war so Americans would learn geography.
