PG: Knicks vs. Bucks: We eatin' Venison tonight!

The thing with Towns is that it's so obvious that there's a way to use him and be significantly better/more dangerous than the team was last year - there is nothing surprising about what KAT does on nights like tonight; he is a guy who is historically efficient for nearly a decade in the NBA now. He has the 8th highest TS% of any player in the history of basketball. When you look at only guys who are primary scorers (let's say 20 PPG types), he is 3rd all-time. It goes Jokic, Steph, KAT. We're talking HOF, best of the best offensive efficiency. He's close to a 50/40/90 guy at 7 feet tall.

His defense obviously leaves a lot to be desired, but if you bring this type of historically efficient offensive player into an already established team structure and hierarchy, led by a defense-scheming-and-obsessed head coach who has two of the best wing defenders in the starting lineup and other defensive pieces, there's no need to have KAT's defensive deficiencies be crippling. The man was not brought in to be a multi-dimensional savior and centerpiece, he was brought in to be the historically efficient 7 foot scorer that he's always been. 

If you can't figure out how to properly integrate a level of elite offense that puts him amongst the all-time greats, you should be fired. If you can't figure out how to properly cover for that level of poor defense when you have already established pieces AND you're a defensive wizard coach, you should be fired. 

Thibs has been handed the keys to a Ferrari. If he tries to use it as a minivan around town, shaking his head about gas mileage and a lack of trunk space, take the keys back and find someone who knows what a Ferrari is, budgets for fuel, and opens that monster up on the f*cking highway. I mean DAMN, it's all right there in black and white. Tighten this isht up or get out the way, man.

this lets us slide hart back into the bench and gives us an actual wing off the bench, and giving us more balance.

it doesn't mean we abandon 5 out. it just means we're not playing 5 out the entire game.

last year when we were starting sims at C he was still only playing 15mpg. I think that's how we could similarly arrive to the correct way to play mitch.

Plus, the Bucks' problems are largely due to Giannis. Didn't he get the past 2 coaches fired?

but you can already tell from game 1-3 to now there is much more cohesion and better ball movement.

I would love to agree with this, but the games against Atlanta and Houston were clear examples of taking a few steps back. Vs Milwaukee it was hard to judge as they were woeful opponents.

We still have Mikal floating around aimlessly a lot of the time. OG trying to create things in ways that don’t suit him / missing wild layups.

Josh’s role looks well defined and he should be maintained in the point forward role regularly.

Teams are doing a better job on Jalen than last year and although spectacular, his tough buckets aren’t easy or sustainable offense. I maintain that last season should be his career high for scoring. He’s getting bottled up trying to emulate his past heroics.

KAT imo is our clearest example of a nightly mismatch in our favour and we must learn how to foster this. But we aren’t particularly close to understanding this recipe.

Many have said that this is a Thibs issue. He damn well needs to improve, that is for sure.

I’m very sorry for those who have only been coming here to hate on Towns and justify their terrible basketball takes in order to somehow save face. But you are a preacher, Selby, let’s just break it to them: the trade was great, just gotta deal with the growing pains. It’s going to be a fun season.
