LMFAO Jon Barry is such a Knicks hater and it was so apparent last summer. The man is also a mental patient.

"It was a stunning, senseless and perfectly fitting performance for Prokhorov on Wednesday night at the Prudential Center: As full-of-it grandstanding ploys go, Prokhorov was brilliant. Once he sensed the Nets couldn’t convince Carmelo Anthony(notes) to sign a contract extension, that his trip to the Rockies would be met with one more failure as owner, he made a dramatic declaration the Nets were done recruiting a deal and out of the running for Anthony."

Is he sniffing coke? Why cant he keep his eyes focused? Maybe that big beak is impeding his vision. Then again, it should provide plenty of oxygen to the brain. Then that goes back to my original question. Because while its the best package, melo must sign off.

THE OWNER SAID NO,.. BEAK!

Image

I dont understand what his purpose is. He is stupid. Misinformed. Ugly. Talks funny. Cant keep still. Has a doofy voice. Is bald. Has no top lip. Beedy phene eyes. And is ugly.

I cant stand that dude. It has nothing to do with this situation. I just dont like him. He does not belong on TV. He is a ugly irritating...........ahhhhh. Give him a smack right across the mouth. He's not entertaining at all.

I dont understand why they choose some of these people. I really dont.

Latest Woj article. He's still giving it to the Nets but mentions (almost defeatedly) that Melo is probably going to the Knicks. Also says something about the Knicks thinking it better to acquire Dwight Howard in 2012 than it would be to sign Melo.

This is no ploy- the Nets are done with Melo...

Post#810 » by Context » Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:55 am

“Really, I am not happy with the way the deal has gone until now,” Prokhorov said. “It has taken too long. It has been played out in public. Certainly it’s taken a toll on the players and I believe it has cost us several games. Games our team, I believe, for sure could win during this period of time.

“I think the management of the team did a great job. But I am instructing our team to walk away from the deal and the meeting that was supposed to be held by our management, tomorrow in Denver with Carmelo, is hereby cancelled.”

I think, on our roster, about every player except Brook was mentioned at some point,” King said. “So it comes a point in time for them where they’ve got to focus – it is their job, but they’ve got families that read and hear things that may or may not be true. And that’s what I care about – those guys and their families. They do have a job, they do get paid a lot to be professional, but to hear your name bantered around every day, your kids go to school, to hear dad’s name bantered around every day, whether it’s true or not, it’s not a good part of the business.”

http://www.nba.com/nets/news/Prokhorov_ ... 10119.html

King said he wasn't "startled" by Prokhorov's decision. "There were times in my mind that I thought, 'Enough was enough,' " he said.

Prokhorov was asked if he would reconsider a trade with the Nuggets — if Anthony, for instance, agreed to sign the contract extension.

"I was absolutely clear on this matter," Prokhorov said.

As for a meeting with Anthony, Prokhorov said he was prepared to fly to Denver today but couldn't get a straight answer on whether it would be worth his time.

"All the information was really mixed," Prokhorov said. "There wasn't any direct information. It was too complicated to continue."

Denver is really running out options now.

They won't ship him to a western conference rival, that pretty much eliminates all the season contenders in the western conference, maybe they would ship him to the Timberwolves or the Kings, somewhere they know he wouldn't extend and wouldn't do any damage on.

They aren't shipping him to the Nets obviously.

Really doubt they convince him to stay in Denver and I doubt Ujiri wants to watch another big named player walk in free agency as he saw Bosh do the same thing.

I feel ultimately Walsh will offer a deal that Denver will take because it will be the best they get for Melo.

Curry, Gallo, Fields, Azu, Randolph(to third team for a 1st rounder which will go to
Denver), 2014 Knicks first round pick, 2 second round picks(from GS)

for

Melo, JR Smith

So Denver gets two prospects including their coveted Fields, 2 first rounders, 2 pretty high second rounders and some savings. Obviously the Knicks get Melo but also Smith to help fill some SG need for the rest of the season after this trade of Fields the starting 2.

Denver can save face a bit getting 4 picks in total and 2 young players while saving millions. I know it appears that they are running out of options and the it could be viewed as possibly paying too much in that light but there will be advantages to making the deal happen as opposed to waiting and hoping.

Walsh can conceivably say to fans he didn't gut the roster because he got to keep some young guys in Chandler, Douglas and Mozgov. Which he'll be able to extend Chandler now and be allowed to still develop Mozgov on the roster. Plus keep around the heart and soul Turiaf for another season. Plus still have the Knicks own 2012 pick if doesn't get swapped with Houston to add another young guy. Possibly a center.

Some Knick fans will bemoan that the Knicks could have possibly kept most of those assets and tried to sign Anthony as a FA but I think Donnie would rather be more certain of acquiring Melo before the end of the season. Both for the security of making it happen without the risk of the unknown and also to make a push for the end of the season and possibly some playoff noise of going deeper into them this season.

That's what I feel is the possible scenario that this could play out as come deadline time.

^I feel you but we have to keep Fields IMO. He's too important...too good of a fit...and with the leverage that we have, I think Walsh can find a way to keep him. I would give up Gallo, add first rounders, make trades for more first rounders, find a 3rd team if need be to get AR involved in the deal to add more value....2nd rounders...you name it, but we need to keep Fields. Aside from the fact that I hate JR Smith mostly for his poor attitude and lack of bball IQ which is what Donnie has worked so hard to avoid, Fields is really the perfect compliment at the 2, especially with Melo here.

It's been talked about so often. For a team that will be looking to compete with the best of the best by making a trade like this, you need guys like Fields who are GREAT...not good, but GREAT at being productive without the ball. A guy who can D up, can rebound, finish at the rim and can run the floor and make smart decisions/great passes. On top of that, he's cheap, young and will be the kind of guy who improves his game each year (looking forward to seeing him knocking down that 3 ball with consistency). And really, the list goes on and on, although I don't have to tell you any of this cause I know you know. Point is that I will be very upset if we trade Fields for Melo especially in light of the latest Nets/Nuggets breakdown. No way! JR Smith will not be the answer and we'll have to spend time and energy finding another 2 guard down the road when what our next move should be is for a big man. Keep Landry.

Good post.

This idea that we are going to "low ball" the nuggets now is childish.

Those 2 teams were running game. Driving up the cost. The game is over. Considering the situation, Walsh is going to be fair. Our offer has been on the table. Its up to the nuggets to take it. There is not going to be any "low balling" because the nets pulled out. It just means its time for the nuggets to get serious.

Ummm ok. But with the Nugs fresh out of big options by definition the bar is set lower now. So yes, low ball is in play. Obviously.

Just because we CAN lowball Denver doesn't mean we SHOULD or WILL.

Denver still owns his contract, so they still have the option to keep him and let it play out. Or trade him to a rental team. Or a few other options.

I just don't see Donnie offering AR and a bag of Fritos and expect to land a star of Melo's caliber. And again, if you pay attention, that's just not how Donnie does business.

Since Denver is looking to save money, any deal would probably start with Curry and Buke (his insurance kicked in today). 2 1st rounders, ONE of Gallo, Chandler, Fields, and maybe cash considerations will get it done.

LOL, you missed my point entirely. Our offer is less than the Nets offer. Yes, we are low balling them.

vincecarter4pres wrote:If NY gets Melo, IMHO you're still giving up one of Gallo or Chandler, basically Denver's choice.

There are going to be a bunch of teams willing to offer expiring salary filler and two late 1st round picks and Denver would obviously not cave and deal with NY if the return is the same.

And I understand the whole wait to sign him thing, but even in that case a S&T for a player of Melo's caliber is still going to cost 2 1st round picks for any team and if Denver holds the same disdain for NY at that point in time, they're still going to demand Gallo and a pick or two or they will call Melo and NY's bluff and tell him to screw.

A simple TPE isn't going to suffice because just letting Melo walk is going to give major caproom to Denver, so there is no incentive without real incentive.

Add to this, with Amar'e and Melo, you should be a really good team and with the constant question mark of Amar'e knees a few years down the road there is no rhyme or reason to waste a year as a 1st round exit when you have a serious shot to make some noise this year.

Cool story bro. That's almost like Gilbert vs. the Heat part deaux.

Honestly, that's a pretty fair trade but I don't think we should give up both Fields and Gallo. I could live with one of the two getting moved, but to move both is a little much.

That said, if we did that deal with the exception of including Gallo I think it would be a trade most reasonable fans should be able to live with. And I want Fields to stay as much as the next guy but if we pull this off we retain Chandler and Gallo which would make for a great tandem off the bench. Smith would just be a stop gap until we can get a SG during the offseason.
