OT: Simon Cowell is going to knock American Idol off the air

Post#805 » by atribecalledrch » Mon Feb 7, 2011 9:15 pm

Simon Cowell's upcoming reality singing competition, "The X Factor," and his old show, "American Idol," might seem nearly identical on the surface, but there are actually five million ways to differentiate the new project from the one he left behind: The sardonic British judge revealed on the official "The X Factor" website that the winner of the show's inaugural season will walk away with a Sony recording contract worth a cool $5 million. That sum represents the largest guaranteed prize in television history, so there's a lot more on the line here than a flimsy deal in the ailing music industry.

"I believe that America has the best talent in the world. I believe that with all my heart," Cowell said of "The X Factor," which debuts stateside in September 2011 (it has run in the U.K. since 2004). "If you win this competition -- I'm going to put my money where my mouth is -- it's a $5 million recording contract. That means the winner walks away with $5 million, guaranteed. Win this competition, it will change your life forever." Start flexing your vocal cords, because "The X Factor" auditions kick off in New York, Miami, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle in March.

Wo is really going to wanna auditionfor Idol when X Factor offers that kind of money?

Why not audition for both? If youre making nothing.... then winning either show would be great.

I have midterms tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday. After Thursday though, nothing but quizzes until finals so I'm happy about that. :D

Then I need to go through it one more time...damn trimesters.

You know what I recommend for studying? Some sort of energy intake.

I'm in film school so it may be different, my midterms are on the exact same days that Knicks1214 mentioned; I started classes in January.

Correct sir, it's a very good way to clear out the toxins in your body and it allows you to think clearer.

Just get some good sleep and you'll think fine. I've taken an exam while snacking lol (it was recommended cause it was 100 very difficult bio questions) for about 3 hrs. Your brain uses up a lot of energy thinking, so eating would be the smart thing to do unless you want to be exhausted, can't think and hungry during midterms.

Your brain needs energy to function properly. Depriving yourself of all food is the last thing you want to do to think more clearly.
