Sexton is productive and efficient but somehow I don’t want him. We have players that can’t create for themselves and need to be set up. I don’t know if he can be that guy. I keep thinking of the play where Kevin Love got frustrated with him. His mentality is attack and score which leads him to missing better plays in the moment. That’s my only gripe.

I guess in this offense that Thibs runs, more iso scorers are needed. I just don’t know how effective that will be aiming for a chip.

Are we really willing to give up on Obi AND commit nearly $30M a year on Sexton? How far can this team go with Sexton and Randle driving it?

Obi wont get playing time with Randle here...so he has to go. As far as paying Sexton 30 Million...we can address that in 22-23, right now his costs only 6 Mill.

So basically we add a 22yr old efficient 24+ PPG scorer to a team bereft of shot creators while maintaining cap flexibility in the short term....

Team would be Randle, RJ, Sexton, Mitch, and whoever we sign with our huge amount of cap space, plus whoever we draft with our remaining pick(s) ( I'm hoping Duarte)...

I dont know how far that takes us but we'd be significantly better with he ability to tweek the roster down the road.

I feel you. He’d definitely be an upgrade to Payton. I just want to see what the future holds for Obi with a bigger role. Hometown kid that takes notes and improves each year. I really think he can be a major part of this team with a good/great PG.

one thing that hasn't been talked about is that Sexton will be getting mentored by Johnny O'Bryant. he has had a significant impact on developing guys like Lillard and Donovan mitchell.

Yeah Sexton's already been thru 4 different head coaches in Cleveland since his rookie year. Talk about an unstable organization. Despite all that he still has become an efficient 24 PPG scorer. I really think Sexton would benefit greatly from having the stability of Thibs, Obryant, etc which could open his game up even more.

You could see at the end of the clip Taurean Prince got a kick out of it. Of course both Prince and Allen got the boot after Durant and Kyrie showed up in Brooklyn. At least Sexton has proven he won't back down against those chumps.

I've been saying he'd be a target for months, Leon was his agent, and he fits a big need we have with shot creation at guard. He has some warts, but lack of effort isn't one of them. He's the type of player that could be good in a better environment as long as you realize he's not a PG, if you look at him as a smaller SG then you're on the right track.

We would need a big guard to play next to him that can run offense though or will look to move the ball.

Oh - I don't mean D. Mitchell next to Sexton, but that Johnnie Bryant can clean up Sexton's game/act
