If Thibs REALLY wants his North South Guard get the player who is 5 years younger in Sexton. At the very least his production is on the rise and I believe under the right guidance he can get to another level with Thibs.

But Schroder? For the life of me I can’t understand this.

Like we have been saying go get Sexton if Thibs is salivating for his attacking guard.

I wouldn't hate Schroder for the right price

He's a pretty average starting PG, but still a starting PG

I'd rather someone who's a better defender and better shooter (though he isn't terrible at that now, 35.5% over the past 3 years), but he's fine

I don't want to pay him what he wants to get paid though.

Speaking of guards, when the Bulls pay BIG money for Lonzo and they finish 12 games under .500 I’m going to laugh when LaVine doesn’t sign with them.

Schroeder has talent and I remember mentioning to a lot of people that he would prob be a target since he's the type of guard thibs likes. But 20 MM for him is absurd.

And if that's the "big" FA acquisition it would be really underwhelming

Sexton could end up being better for us long term but what would we have to give up (I doubt Obi and picks gets it done)? So went with Fit in the draft ....defensive players who could also shoot. I was told we would try to add lead talent in Free Agency. I was like "OK"...
And now we are signing the likes of Schroeder? If we had known this I would have expected us to go for big swings in the draft. And is it me o r is our team shrinking with all these little players we are adding. Teams with giant wings and guards will be salivating.

I think that's debatable. I think it's questionable that he should be a starting PG and if he is, he is a below average starting PG. He's not a bad player but I think he's a top tier backup caliber PG moreso than a starter. So yeah, that's who we will get

He'd be an upgrade from the Jarrett Jacks and Ramon Sessions and Emmanual Mudiay and Frank Ntilikina and Elfrid Paytons of the world, sure. But I'd still be looking to upgrade the position even if we got Dennis

Drafting in the 20s and 30s isn't where you get lead talent...unless you get lucky and find the gem. Who told you we would go after lead talent in FA? You have sauces? This FA class is devoid of lead talent and we are not the team getting any of it that is available. Not sure what many expected this off season to be but... there's not much to get excited about. The only options we have for lead talent is taking a risk and overpaying RFAs or gutting the team when a star requests a trade here.

On the low they have a good guard in Ayo Dosunmu but they’re gonna overpay Lonzo instead of giving Ayo the keys. I don’t mind though. Lavine is ours in 22

Ok. Got that first sentence out of the way. I mean, otherwise, why would I have thought for 10 minutes "Just what the hell are the Knicks going to do on Monday"

Not trying to stake out every option so I can say I was right later. I've been convinced they are trading for Sexton. I still think it's a maybe. I've advocated for guards from Powell to Fournier to Trent Jr to even DeRozan, though in certain contexts.
I've floated the idea of a Sexton/Ball backcourt. I think I've seen some Oubre smoke.

I think it comes down to Sexton OR Ball, and more likely Ball and:

Knicks trade for Beal.

Beal
Ball
Knicks bring back Rose
Knicks bring back Noel

Ball there just seems like there is loose chatter around him. Beal is connected to WWW. The Knicks went through some effort to get extra assets. I have no idea what a Knicks/Washington trade looks like. Washington made statements that moving Westbrook was to create room to get a guy next to Beal but I'm not buying that. They cleared one big contract, they are moving the other.

I don't even like this move the best, but I think it's the move.

I'm not putting in any of Vildoza, McBride, Grimes, Obi, Knox because I'd think most of them are going out. I know. It doesn't make sense, maybe RJ would be in the trade TO them, but I think Beal goes for some of this years picks and a lot of future picks and Washington starts a rebuild\pivot away from the Westbrook\Beal thing. Maybe RJ's in the trade and they sign Oubre. Lol.

It looks like Washington wants to compete. They are eyeing Spencer in a S&T deal.
