Well that's depressing. :noway: lmao

I do think however that Shamet and Wright should be brought back, especially if we ship Mikal out (which we should). We need to have as many defensive guys on this roster as possible.

If Karl stays, I'm praying he tries to recruit Horford.

I'm pessimistic that we have the gas for him. On the bright side, OKC's probably out.

Well that's really the rub, we don't have the assets to get anyone

But I also don't think the team needs another big name, we just need better fitting connective pieces.

Breaking up Villanova (Mikal or Hart) was my first thought. If Dallas were interested in KAT, Davis would make a ton of sense. They have Gafford and Lively to cover for him.

We're pretty well situated to make Player -> Player moves but Giannis takes draft capital and... yeah.

One of OG/Mikal/Hart has to go. Pick one.

This is where the fit is bad.

Or, lean all the way into defense and trade KAT for JJJ, but if it's with those 3 wings, the offense still stalls in the playoffs because the secondary/tertiary creation still sucks.

The team got where it got with effectively one player actually above average with the ball in his hands, as a wing.

Knicks looked uneven all year, including the playoffs.

He better be thinking of moves, to possibly include a new coach.

F*ck standing pat.

I think at least 2 of 3 of these 3 are going: Thibs, Bridges and KAT.

Thibs the highest odds, followed by Bridges, and then KAT.

People the Knicks org should think of moving:

Thibs
Hart
Mikal
KAT

I think OG is a keeper. I think Mikal and Hart are a bad fit together, but would be survivable if OG was LeBron or KD or even Williams on OKC.

It's 3 guys who are all just a little bit too limited, at the same time.

One has to go for a better fit.

Hart and stuff for JJJ? Sure, if you want the team taller. Will it work? Who knows.
Mikal for Banes = a better shooter with more balls. Is that better? Maybe.

And so on. I have no idea, because the cap, because OG, Mikal and Hart are good, but having all 3 isn't good enough.

It's fair to explore trading KAT, but I'd only move him for JJJ.
And that might be a bad idea.

Tough sledding ahead.

I predict 4 more years of 2nd round exits followed by 20 years of lottery teams as Dolan's son takes over, rehires Isiah Thomas.

i would LOVE it if we planned to keep shamet and wright on min deals. delon's not going to have a world of choice and i think this is a good fit for him. shamet's home. unless someone remembers who he's been and wants to pay a little more, we'd be stealing to get him back healthy on a min. i bet he rightly will be looking for more. and coming off a shoulder injury, this might be a last chance to get paid.

if Horford still wants to play, i wouldn't be shocked if he thought about spending a final season in in washington heights with KAT. what a way to go out. dyckman daddies. would also be a great culture vet and could give some minutes in case of emergency. he is damn near cooked tho. really couldn't expect to rely on bro. love him and hate to say.

crazy i left out cam payne.

it's kind of an embarassment of riches for that tier of player combined with the rookies. i mean, given who we have under contract, there aren't a ton of minutes to go around. even if you go 10 deep, we alread have 7 guys we need to be playing. a couple rooks who could round out the rotation.

i don't think we're looking for much. upgrades beyond that end of rotation and deep bench tier i imagine would have to come by trade.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

I'd rather find a trade where Hart is no longer on the team.

Hart, OG and JJJ in the starting lineup is the same offensive disaster the Knicks had all season and the playoffs. Actually, it's worse, since Mikal could at least create his weird off balance fadeaways, and that would be gone.

Not opposed to trading Hart but Bane is a better overall offensive player than either Bridges or OG and has a more rugged frame and willingness to fight through screens than Bridges

Also I believe they could offer McBride, Kolek and some other stuff to get Divo back here too.

All I know is that is having Mikal/OG/Hart as your wings is a ret*rded idea and needs to be fixed. The end.

All 3 starting is the problem. The team needs a true PF. Moving Hart back to the bench and sliding Bridges and OG to their natural SG and SF positions is a good start.

Keep Shamet and Wright on 1-year deals. Let Payne walk.

If Precious wants to stay on a 1-year min deal, so be it. I don't mind that.

Let the kids (Kolek, Huk, McCullar, Dadiet) get some opportunities in training camp and summer league. Those four need to get their NBA training regimen down and keep improving all critical aspects of their game.

I'm hopeful that Thibs will be out the door so the next guy can give everyone an opportunity to fill roles and we see a true survival of the fittest and not just politics.

Hopefully Giannis move happens fast so the offseason doesn’t slow down. Our best chance at a rebuild is getting lucky and involved in some 3 way trades or something. A ton of activity could play out we for us

We got PJ Tucker's $3m or so we could sign into and then use to buff up trades. We should have some bird rights for Precious to use in a S&T like we tried to do last season... We got some options... I trust Leon and co. will make the right decisions to put us in a position to get to the finals in '26 and '27 and to actually have a shot to win it all.

Would miss the clutch 3s and defense from McBride but DDV brings a better all around game, on offense at least.
