that is not a crazy schedule for a young QB to get his feet wet.

Everyone is going to point to the @Saints game as the best landing spot and while I agree I don’t want a scenario where he looks good for 1 week. Then has probably the hardest 4 game stretch of the entire season playing Eagles, Broncos (on road), Eagles (on road), and 49ers. That is currently 3 undefeated teams and on of the best defenses in football on the road in Denver.

Imagine after one week he gets smacked around for 4 straight weeks what it could do to him.

I know they are getting a ton of pressure to go to Dart now because outside of throwing moon balls the offense doesn’t move with Russ because he either throws a deep ball or check down…there is nothing over the middle of the field.

But the pressure is mounting…I’m just saying for Dart’s development they should wait until the Bears game in early Nov. But it’s a fair question to say how they are going to be able to save face until then. Its over a month of likely more **** play. The noise will be loud.

Yea, I agree with you. I am in no rush for Dart. At least wait until after the 2nd eagles game at philly. At least Andrew Thomas looked good, and obviously need him healthy.

Daboll might not make it thru that stretch. Or I dunno, maybe they give him some games with Dart. Just cant see him survivng this season barring a miracle. They might as well just get rid of him now. From the jump he was pretty much a lame duck head coach. Dont even know how Schoen survives this season. Its just a mess.

I just don't see Mara pulling the plug on Daboll during the season. Because then he would look like a dummy. Let the GM/HC pick there next QB and then don't even let him coach that QB.

I think Daboll gets the year. Again I'm not really focused on Wins/Losses I want to see the team play a good brand of football and see what Daboll does to dart.

So far the brand of football sucks...it looks like we continue to get outcoached. To the point even if Dart looks good I have zero interest in bringing back this regime even if they look like they got the QB right. Its getting that bad.

But Mara will be Mara.

Mara will continue to sink this franchise into the sludge he created after Eli's last season. Mediocrity is his brand, and he's screwing over the fans and the shareholders continuing this farce.

I agree, its 3 games in. The fan base has become emotionally unattached to the franchise. It was like a 50-50 crowd for a home opener.

The fanbase doesn't care.

I mean maybe when Dart starts...but another season before Oct is already over.

Winston should have been the guy from the jump. He can execute the entire route tree. Sure he puts more balls at risk but who cares. 2 of the first 3 games on offense have been basically unwatchable.

The only game we scored a lot was because Dallas secondary is absolute trash and was giving up the plays that succeeds at. Now teams will take that away and its going to get stagnant.

I agree with everything you said. My heart still yearns for Jameis

They will start Dart against the Saints, but I don't think he will be ready. Not so much an indictment on him, but moreso because rookies rely on some easy reads and scheme to adjust, and our coordinators haven't figured out the most common defense in the NFL (2-high shell). So they are going to make Dart a runner and that is probably not going to end well unless he truly is an elite processor already (doubtful).

I don't blame Schoen for getting Wilson, but we should have never promised him the starting job. It should have been a competition and I think Jameis would have won it.

It would be such a mistake to put him in vs the Saints because if he doesn't play at a high level what do you do? Take him back out? Because the Eagles twice, Denver on the road, and 49ers at home loom. Some of the best defenses in the NFL. That could be an absolute disaster.

Correct, teams are just playing 2 high safeties vs us...forcing short check downs or runs. Knowing that Russ rarely ever attacks the middle of the field because of his height and unwillingness to step up into the pocket.

So basically any slant/in breaking route/crosser isn't in our playbook. Its also why we struggle a ton in the red zone because with a shortened field Russ is extremely limited on what you can call down in the redzone with no threat of a play in the middle of the field.

The 4 play series with 3 throw aways and a QB keeper was close to the back to back QB sneaks during Judge tenure. There was zero creativity from a playcalling perspective and a QB.

We are just wasting away Nabers talent.

they got really good protection early in the game as well. And did nothing with it. Winston could at least open stuff up. I don't care about INT's I care about looking like a competent offense that can move the ball up and down the field more consistently. The first part of the game we were targeting our RB's more often than Nabers...just because they took away the deep ball. How can you not gameplan to get your best offensive option open to get some early touches. Part of its because Russ is takes away the entire middle of the field since he doesn't attack that...any good DC knows that.

And it certainly doesn't help this regime...that Daniel Jones looks really good. That might be the most damning of all of it.

I agree, I just dont' think Mara does....that is why our problems start at the top.

Even if they do get fired...he's going to have a farce of a hiring process...he will want to be sold who can build around Dart...and not want to hear that the best candidate doesn't like Dart and wants his own QB.

I even like Dart I just think if your going to hire a GM/HC you let them do it there way...otherwise its basically the mistake Mara has been making since he got full control from Wellington.

Yea, agree 100%. It all starts at the top, and the rot spreads down. Too many similarities to Dolan's Knicks before Leon. Last offseason was the time to clean house and let the new group pick their QB, scout the draft, start building, etc. But at least we came out with some players who have looked good so far in the draft.

Maybe Dart is the future, maybe not. We will likely not have an answer and will have another high pick with a chance to draft a QB. It'll be a key decision, but if we clean house they just wont have as much info. Thinking Schoen still sticks around anyway (even though he has sucked so far), and his fate may be tied to Dart with a new coach.

With so many things looking bad, its hard to put a finger on any one thing when it really is multiple problems all over the place with this franchise.

Right??

On another note.

on the DJ front I dont think its fully him leaving the Giants. Him being cut prob gave him a new sense of purpose and focus. He looks better than at anytime here no matter who was the coach.

But then again we have had trash coaches for over decade  , but im leaning on him maturing after the cut more tho.

On the DJ front I agree 100%. I also wouldn’t underestimate his time spent in Minnesota with KOC. He turned Sam Darnold into a very solid QB last year after being written off time after time. We’ll see what he can do with Wentz now that he’s in there and potentially JJ McCarthy. Coaching and development are two major things this team has lacked for quite some time

Sounds like Daboll had a press conference and left the door open to a QB change this week. The only logical reason to do that (in my opinion) would be he’s making the change and he isn’t ready to announce it yet. His seat has to be hotter than ever and he’s getting desperate

Also simply just really strong offensive line play. Colts have a top 5 unit. They know how to build an offensive line. Having that security blanket to know when you drop back and will have to throw instead of just waiting to get hit has to do wonders.

We aren't talking about some nominal improvement. DJ is leading the entire NFL in QBR. Absolutely maturity and reflecting on being cut plays a role. Kind of have to look deep down and change things. But its also like you said has to be coaching and the players around you.

For example running a play action and knowing your blind side is blocked has to do wonders for a QB. DJ got into some really bad habits here some on him, some on the coaching, and some of the **** oline play. But what this hot shows you is even a talented QB can look like a bum if he's put in a bad situation.

this is a mistake...not that I don't think he can't be good. Just that its simply because Daboll is on the hot seat and trying to save his own ass then whats best for the young kid.

Sure timelines change but when we drafted him there was no play to start him this fast. You wouldn't have signed both Russ and Winston if you felt he would be ready by week 4.
