It would be rather stupid to give up Noah for Melo.

The Bulls are reconsidering whether they should make an attempt to trade for Denver’s Carmelo Anthony.
-------------
It is widely believed Denver has insisted center Joakim Noah be included in any Anthony deal, which the Bulls are reluctant to do. It would be more difficult to trade Noah now that he’s signed a long-term extension. But the Bulls have gone 12-6 with Noah on the sideline with a thumb injury.

The Bulls are discussing whether Anthony would give them a better chance to win an NBA title, according to a league source. They might also wait to see if Denver’s price drops closer to the Feb. 24 trade deadline and the Nuggets will accept a package of Luol Deng, Taj Gibson and first-round picks.
-------------------------------

COMMENT: It would be very difficult to do a deal with Noah. He is now a "Poison Pill Player" and it is extremely hard to match salaries - especially since Melo has a Trade Kicker

Without Noah, the Bulls do not have enough to get Melo. Denver isnt going to accept a package without a player better than Luol Deng

I don't think Bulls are that interested. If anything, I would bet stories that come up within the next few weeks about the Bulls are "planted" by Melo's agents or Denver to try to bring a second suitor into play. The last thing Denver wants is to have to deal with the Knicks and only the Knicks, since we're really the only team that holds significant leverage over them (with our ability to just sign Melo outright in the summer if a deal can't be made).

I'm not sure how legit this site is considering how many random rumors fly around on the internet, but maybe more dominoes are falling? Take it for what it's worth

Speculation has been swirling around New York Knicks forward Anthony Randolph after his agent requested that the team trade the sparsely-used, third-year forward.

A source with direct knowledge of Randolph's situation now tells us that the Knicks have agreed to a deal that will send Randolph to the Indiana Pacers.

We called the Knicks for comment and a spokesperson said, "There's nothing to report."

Does Indy like AR so much to give an unprotected pick? Especially given they don't have any extra.

These aren't planted by Melo's agents, McGraw reads the Bulls message board and it's just a reflection of what everyone is saying there.. We wont be giving up Noah, at all. So unless the Nuggets are interested in Taj/Picks/Deng and other short term contracts, they can kick rocks.. Only how I see us getting Melo is if the Knicks low ball the hell out of the Nuggets, and you guys rather risk waiting until he becomes a FA than give up tons of talent. Thus forcing the Nuggets to accept our deal, at this point I see the sweepstakes for Melo as the Knicks to lose..

With the New Jersey Nets no longer interested in making a deal for Carmelo Anthony, the Denver Nuggets have begun making calls around the NBA to determine what sort of offers they can expect.

Anthony has only considered signing an extension with the Nuggets or Knicks, so a team acquiring him at this point would likely be doing so as a rental for the 2011 Playoffs.

I can't believe people don't want to add Fields in a deal for Melo. Sorry, but if Denver want's Fields "It's been nice knowing ya kiddo"

Seems like a weird place to have an exclusive on an NBA deal. Walsh has been so confident for so long that I wouldn't be surprised. If there was a trade, it would probably be all over the place rather than just one, non-NBA related, website. -Jitpal

It's not that we are not open to it, it's that, at this point, we don't have to do it. If the Nuggets want to trade him, they are going to trade him for the best offer. We have to see what other teams will offer to rent him before we start throwing everyone in there to send to Denver. Right now, it's difficult to believe that a contender has the assets to beat an offer of Gallo, 2011 first rounder and Eddy.

Making calls around the league? Man, they are being straight up disrespectful. Melo ought to come out now and publicly squash any hopes of signing an extension with any other team.

Just thinking guys::::::

I am sure someone in the NBA likes Gallo more than Denver likes him.In a 3 way trade, we could deal Gallo to another team and get another asset back,

What do you guys think?

They are not being disrespectful. They are covering all their bases and trying to get the best deal they can.

I feel pretty confident nothing is happening over the next 2 weeks, and the stretch is critical to what will be in the trade if it goes down.

1. Denver probably is hoping they get some leverage with the knicks struggling right now due to fan impatience. We have 4 very tough games out of our next five. They're probably hoping the knicks go 1-4 and panic mode sets in NY. If that happens, NY will have gone 7-14 over our last 21. Also, I could see the using this as one last hail mary, to convince Melo to resign. "See Melo NY is far away from contention. Do you want to risk being ripped apart by vicious NY fans . . . "

2. It is important to remember owners make a **** ton of money during the playoffs. Even getting to the 2nd round is highly profitable for teams. Denver is 24-17. They have a good statement game against LA coming and then a very easy schedule (Indy (H), Wash, Cleveland, Detroit, NJ). If they beat LA and mop up during the easy stretch of the schedule, they could find themselves at 29-19 and with a decent shot at HCA. I could see the owner deciding not to do the trade to get the playoff cash and call Melo's bluff about passing down an extension (if it is one).

Now if NY pulls through the tough stretch and Denver struggles, I could see a real fire sale.

I laugh when I see people saying we can't trade fields, or Gallo, or WC for Melo

Those 3 players are nothing but role players. Melo is a star in this league.

I would give up Gallo, and WC in a heart beat for Melo because they play the same position that Melo plays.

But you have Felton, Amar'e, and melo as your big 3 and you can build the rest of the team with role players and below average players. The big 3 will be the reason the Knicks win a ring and not Fields, WC, or Gallo

Who could we get that Denver wants? Any shot at Monta Ellis, would they want him? Batum in the deal?

I wouldn't worry about my team if I were you. That is all Anthony's agents trying to do something that isn't there. Bulls just need a SG. JR Smith is way more likely for them, but Denver wants the Melo stuff over first before thinking about other trades.

I love fields but for melo ill trade him, gallo and chandler. Melo is a star those guys are role players you would be stupid not to do it. Melo is guaranteed to get you 24+ points a night. And i have a feeling he would step his game up big time here like amare.

Felton/Melo/Amare sign a MIL center and we're off!

Sam Smith: http://blogs.bulls.com/2011/01/bulls-me ... -go-again/

The conventional wisdom is if he waits until a new deal is signed, he risks a new salary ceiling and perhaps having to accept a deal at maybe up to $10 million less per season. Although no one knows yet what the new deal will be. So that’s all speculation for now, though everyone seems to believe Anthony would make less waiting it out and, say, signing with the Knicks as a free agent.

He does want it all–the Knicks and the money–sort of your black and white cookie and to eat it as well.

And if you want to go somewhere in what may be your last major deal of your career, why not go where you want to go?

I can understand that.

The Bulls, by the way, remain interested in Anthony and have been all season. They have been in contact with the Nuggets and Anthony’s representatives regularly.

They have mostly been told not to bother, though you never know
. But as we know it’s never over until it’s over.

--------------

From what I have heard from my sources who may or may not know, certainly every bit as good as theirs, is Anthony only wants to play for the Knicks

--------------

For whatever personal reason, and I do hear it’s mostly that, Anthony wants to play for the Knicks. He basically told the Nets and Nuggets that, which finally ended months of rumors which, now we know, had no real basis.

So what happens now?

The Knicks can step forward with a trade offer, though I also have heard Anthony doesn’t want to go to the Knicks if a trade involves them giving up too many good players and making it more difficult for them to compete. The Knicks have talked openly about acquiring draft picks, presumably to send on to the Nuggets in a trade. Though it won’t be easy to get good enough picks that would make a difference to the Nuggets.
The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.
