because melo told dolan he was going to sign in NJ if he didnt trade for him

i was more surprised that he acknowledges that we actually have good players, esp after how many times he's shat on our team over the years...

That old motherf*cker better be ready to suit up for 2 years, and he better like it.

That's true, but I'm not confident in that at all.

False. He has done EXACTLY what he he had to if he wanted to come here. He didn't do nearly enough.

Come again?

As I said, we''re in no position to be taking for granted the fact that Melo wants to come here, be all happy that he's even considering us... and then throw a fit because we don't get him for free... he is right under any other year...but since the will be a new CBA and melo risks losing 50 million he isn't going into the offseason without a contract. That is a little selfish as knicks fans to think he or any nba player would leave that much money on the table

He was never losing 50 mill. Stop.

I hope his salary gets rolled back.

1) Melo is a greedy fck.

2) Dolan is forcing Walsh's hand via Isiah whispering in his ear

3) Denver front office is a giant fluster cuck.

4) Billups better wanna play here or this deal becomes back breaking.

5) I will root for the team but I dislike Carmelo.

I freaking knew this would happen. They would wait until AFTER a deal was in place to highlight the fact that we could have signed him in the off season.

well a good owner would say." well melo, I think you are a great player, but as you know, winning a championship takes more than just a great player or two, it takes a great team. and if we give up the package denver is asking for, how can I surround you and amare with that type of talent in a reasonable amount of fime? so if you feel that you can win a ring in NJ, then I wish you the best of luck son. Talk about a buzkill and a speculatory buzzkill at that. Look we don't know if this new offer will get accepted, if it is um cheer up guys we got 2 top 10 players in the NBA. This thread feels like someones uncle just died or something.

Also not sure how you can be a fan of the team and then leave after a trade, especially a trade that makes us better.

In other more important news I can finally pick the Knicks in NBA 2K11 and win games!!!!

I'm sure they'll delete this post or lock everything. Your 100% right. This is a joke, he wasn't going to the Nets.

I'm not saying he should have only come as a FA.

I'm saying he should have put the screws to Denver, and rejected the Nets BS, so we don't lose 60% of our starting lineup for him.

^For the record, and just as an historical tidbit that kind of sheds light on the risks of trading talented young forwards, the Bullets traded Chris Webber for ... Mitch Richmond and Otis Thorpe.

Think about that.

I don't remember who they got for Rasheed.

Can someone tell me about our cap situation assuming this trade goes through? Will we have enough cap space to sign one of Paul/Howard/Deron when they are free agents after next season? I hate to give up gallo, but if we keep him we'll have to pay him next year and basically have our roster set for a while. If we give him up we might have enough cap space to create our own big 3, might be better off in long run giving him up

Not even close. Bet on it. The most he's losing is probably 2 MM a year. THE MOST. At the price he's being paid that's nothing.

Nah. Denver front office is not as dumb as we all thought.

Denver FO is exactly as dumb as we thought. Melo isn't the man we thought he was.
