No, trade exception is no different than free agent exception. They eat cap space until they are renounced. There are no free lunches in the CBA.

I again agree with you that nothing is certain until deals are finalized, but again, it would be highly unusual for a team to retract an offer like that.

there are "understandings" in business all the time...parties do favors for each other all the time...
why are we going back and forth on this? because I mentioned melo possibility going to miami and you felt like you had to "note" that at this point because of reported deals it couldn't happen...you are wrong because you have NO IDEA what deals are actually REAL AND FINALIZED

Context, I didn't feel like I "had" to note anything. i was compelled to respond for the exact same reason you've felt compelled to note your theory repeatedly. Like you, I'm adding my perspective to the discourse.

Why do defensive? You're allowed to repeat the same theory multiple times a day. I can't add some context (boom!) to your old, repeated theory as new developments arise?

I've acknowledged no deals are final until their done. But not sure the relevancy of that considering what you're suggesting isn't even based on a report, but just own personal whim.

One of amare/bargs with shump for nothing. They got the cap space, they lost frye, and have always wanted shump.

I believe i don't understand your question.

No, I don't believe Melo is going to Miami, if that's what you're asking.

I do believe James and Bosh, are, however.

It's so obvious that Carmelo is waiting to see if he can team up with Lebron.
No other reason to not announce his decision yet.

Yes take on those two scrubs and Shumpert instead of match whatever Bledsoe gets on the restricted market. Smart.

Welp, I'm gonna go ahead and say we're not hearing anything today.

The media has sensationalized a lot of stuff lately, and the seemingly more reliable reporters have admitted that it has been all quiet and Melo/camp is tight lipped. So where are all these reports coming out of? Bullsh*t and nowhere is what I say.

My theory is this: Melo is reupping with us, but is in cahoots with Phil to keep it stealth and not spread the word. They're trying to recruit other guys to NY like Gasol and whoever else. While Melo does some recruiting, Phil and his boys are working on shipping out Bargs & Stat.

If all remain quiet and work their master plan, then they don't tip their hand and no opportunity for someone to come along and c*ckblock us just because they can (like what Cuban is doing with Parsons/Bosh in Houston).

Does this not make sense? Who's with me?

i agree this should be a very simple decision for melo, NY has the best money its a city he likes his family has a home here phil jackson is a bright future with all the cap space in the world next year to build around him..... he should of signed by today if it was that simple so it leads me to believe something else is going on, maybe hes looking to teamup with lebron maybe hes waiting to see if phil can move amare and land pau.... IDK BUT ITS SOMETHING

Does an utter lack of any reason to announce count as a reason not to announce?

Somewhat, somehow Knicks end up with Melo Gasol and Lebron.

I know Lebron already called Melo and said hold on just wait on it, it's coming.
