Probably

It was about getting picks, we literally just cut O'Bryant

Excellent point. That career 3.5 ppg player should be able to slot into KP's 23 ppg this year no problemo.

Knicks are playoff bound now.

Well, I was trying to come up with some reason. But perhaps there is a more reasonable one, particularly if he was cut.

I'd feel better about the trade if the Knicks could swap the two 2nd round picks into two 1st round picks. Is this possible?

Hernangomez was worth more than this to me. He showed real potential and is still young. Oh well.

Here you go:
WHG got caught talking to the press too much and Dolan is a paranoid do*chebag who hates negative press so he demanded his trade.

You're welcome. :D

*edit

Merry (Mills\Perry) got stuck with Melo because Phil Jackson was a dumbass and gave him a NTC and they turned Melo into Enes Kanter, a souped up WHG making 8x more money. Not only would they be motivated to move WHG because of their insane bosses decree, but to solve a self inflicted C glut of their own making the next two years, while also making the deal of picking up a 20 million $ 4th center not look as bad.

Yes! Oh wait, that wasn't right... So Jack eventually starts and Sessions is where now? On the bench. The market corrected itself. If Willy is STILL on the bench now, that means the guys in front of him never faltered and/or he never beat them out for minutes! Bringing up other players only strengthens my argument. Hornacek is clearly willing then to make adjustments if someone earns it.

That or the coaching staff have no f@cking clue. I bet on the no f@cking clue.

I might agree with you, EXCEPT WE ALL SAW WILLY PLAY THIS YEAR. Where was his dominant performance? Even at the beginning of camp, he came in out of shape from reports, which is really hard to do if you're playing for your international squad during the summer lol... Nah, I'm betting that he just got outplayed. I don't know why that's so out of the realm of possibility for some of you.

9 minutes a game and only 9 games with 10 or more minutes isn't seeing him play. Everyone looks bad in that little amount of PT. He's still averaging 17/10/3 per 36 this year with a 17 PER. Imagine if we actually played him how he might produce (or don't imagine and just think back to last year where he averaged 12/9/2 after all star break). He could've at least got 10-15 mpg like he did last year when he was banished to the shadow realm but nah Horny hates success and so do Knicks fans.

I’m an absolute awe at this franchise

I was not under the impression that Willie was a franchise cornerstone in anyway. But what is the possible value of the street? The second rounders have minimal value and if memory serves that is exactly what we gave up to get Lily in the 1st Pl.,

Patrick o’bryant? Not a clue
I’m sure that’s my ignorance but I doubt very much he’s better than Willy
And less he’s Kobe‘s Irish brother

I just cannot see the value in trading at such a low point
You don’t have to play him, you don’t have to trade in either, you don’t have to do anything as a GM

Better just to wait and see what else presents itself

At the very least he could’ve been a throw In for a larger trade

I know that Hicks and Kornet have been practicing with the team and hopefully one or both of them have been impressing the brass. Looking for a silver lining somewhere.

I like that one tweet where some guy said "Knicks save 1.5 million off next years cap, still over the cap two years from now"

Completely ignores the fact the Knicks have over 40 million dollars tied up on three backup Centers still

I'm lovin it (McDonalds music)

Willy is the New Ariza in a big man's body. I think he can have a long and productive career as one of those non-stars who can really help you get over the hump.

Kornet has impressed me by acquiring an NBA contract from any team. Of course, it would be the Knicks.

Two months ago, this deal would've made sense. Cody was down and we didn't have a backup center. Now Cody is back, we have two centers and the power forwards worthy of minutes and now we fork over what may end up as two valuable 2nd rounders for someone who will be our fifth big this year and next? There has to be another move coming because this makes no real sense with our current roster.

Knicks fans: trade the vets get younger, gather assets for future

Knicks brass: trade one of the few assets while his value is at all time low at the same time a bunch of minutes open up for him
