Biden wasn't my first, second, or third choice, but he was the only choice when the primaries ended. Even with all of his faults, Biden is by far way more qualified to lead than the resident in the White House.

That would give him 286 electoral votes.

Trump said STOP THE VOTE. Be careful what you ask for!

''stop the count in one particular arbitrary point in time where I have the lead'' just doesnt sound as catchy, but if he literally said THAT, there would STILL be people defending him and protesting the count. How low should Trump think of his populus, he knew mail in would be last counted votes, so he literally declared it fraud that should be stopped, so his sheep could go in the streets to riot... and they did. How much of a blind idiots masses can be, its really just embarrassing.

Indeed.

While "Build Back Better" was simple, it was not effective. We need something that really strikes passion in voters. "Make America Great Again" was extremely effective because even the acronym is as (if not more so) meaningful as the phrase itself. I mean we're also using MAGA as an adjective. And as a federal employee, acronyms are life at work. Surely they can make something up that gets people rilled up for all the right reasons this time.

Why is there all this post-mortem talk about the campaign? Biden is about to beat an incumbent - who for all his faults has a rabid base and the voting power of those that vote red regardless. He didn't get swift boated and stayed out of Trump's way when he was self destructing. Biden keeps it pretty simple already, imo. As much as I liked her, it's not like they ran Warren. I thought he ran a solid campaign.

I really don't think dumbing it down is the way to go. Governing well is really hard. I think that point needs to be sold better. You need people with knowledge and experience of how to do it. How to listen to and distill complex advice from hundreds of staffers and experts.

I'm just still concerned that moving forward, what our message should be. We still need to get through to some folks in these deep red states at some point and so far, our messaging has sucked. If we don't, gaining ground there will never happen.

Hopefully, we can get more Stacey Abrams types in other areas. She really did her thing in GA.

Thousands more absentee ballots will continue to be counted Friday, including 4,800 in Gwinnett County. In all, about 10,000 absentee ballots remained to be tallied, in addition to a few thousand military, overseas and provisional ballots.

I humbly disagree!

Biden is the EXACT person for the job at this point in time. Trump ruined so much in 4 years that we need someone who can step in on DAY ONE with experience to right the ship quickly without needing months or a year of on the job training.

In anticipation of Trump probably not willing to cooperate on a transition, the Biden team doesn't need his help. They've already worked in The White House, so they don't need the tour or orientation. Joe already knows all the world leaders and has a relationship of trust with them. He knows how government works. He knows how to play the political game when negotiating with Congress. Out of all the candidates running, he's the most experienced and the most ready.

Being president is not a beauty pageant and not about who you "like" personally -- especially this time. We have so much wrong that needs fixing AND a pandemic still going on. So, having someone who KNOWS what the fcuk they're doing right away is imperative.

Georgia. There is a map below of the counties which are outstanding.

Clayton - 6K
Gwinnet - 6K
Forsyth - 4K
Laurens - 2K

And a bunch of smaller amounts from everywhere else.

clayton country and gwinnet are both dem counties with clayton being a huge dem county.

Forsyth and Laurens vote in the mid 60's for republicans.

So he gets over like 70-75% in clayton and gwinnet (which is very possible) I think Biden pulls it out because I don't think even in republicans counties trump will ever pull 60-40 in mail in ballots to make up for it.

With news that Gwinnett is the largest one outstanding this morning, Biden should increase his lead based on the Dem advantage in that county.

They leaves a “few thousand” which includes military, but at that point Biden should have enough of a lead to hold it.

So hold up for a second

Biden is going to win by 7M votes?

How is that not proof the electoral system is trash?

Ridiculous. In a better system, this would be a frigging blow-out

I would have liked someone younger and a tad more progressive but you have some solid points about exp and and that we need someone who can come in day and start righting the ship.

I never understood why Americans have this electoral point system, what is wrong with just popular vote, every vote counts the same and is as important. Now if I am republican in California, basically my vote means nothing, or am I getting it wrong?

Because between 1992 and 2016 there were 7 elections

The Democratic candidate won the popular vote 6 times yet the Republicans won the EC and therefore the presidency 3 times. Almost made it 4 of 8 with this election. And given the one time they won the popular vote was 04 with an incumbent Bush, it's highly likely if we went by popular vote and elected Gore in 2000, Gore would've won the popular vote in 04 as well. California has the 2nd largest number of registered Republicans in any state in America (Texas is #1), yet their votes are meaningless in the presidential election

EC is the only way for a Republican candidate to realistically win the presidency at this point, and because it's enshrined in the Constitution, getting rid of it would require a lot of Republican support, which will never happen. Only realistic way is the NPVIC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Popular_Vote_Interstate_Compact), which is basically a group of states pledging to give their EC votes to the popular vote winner (cause technically states can vote however they want, the peoples' vote is non-binding), and it's at 196 EC votes out of 270. And even then, in the event that states worth 270 electors sign it, it's getting challenged all the way to the Supreme Court, which as its currently constructed will absolutely knock it down

Republicans just hate democracy.

The electoral college really is a relic of the past and it needs to die in a fire. We only still have it because it's the only way for the GOP to win the Presidental election nowadays. They think that land has more power than people.

As for the thought that your vote means nothing depending on where you live, I disagree. Every vote means something. In each election, you are voting for much more than the presidential candidate. When it comes to politics, it starts on the local level so even if you are a republican in California, vote for the things you want to be done in your neighborhood and vice versa. You vote for the state reps, governors, potential state proposals, judges, and the comptroller (the person who pays the state's bills, maintains its books, prepares financial reports, and pays state employees). If you feel someone in your area is a better fit for the job, vote for them. You may not change the outcome of the president's election in your state, but your voice is still heard. And moving forward, it could encourage more people to get invested if polls show a particular action item is gaining traction. That is precisely how a grassroots movement starts.

From what I understand, HKers are conflicted about this election. Some of them like Trump's "tough" stance against China due to recent events, however HKers also love democracy and HATE anything that smells like authoritarianism or corrupt leaders.

What have you heard on who they are supporting?
