Sooo let's summarize. If Melo goes to the Nets, he gets:

1. Almost no chance (really no chance) of making the playoffs.
2. Almost a guarantee of missing the playoffs for the first time in his career.
3. About 300 total fans of the entire team (local and worldwide).
4. Newark for another year.
5. A team with no draft picks.
6. A team with no established stars.
7. A team that cannot keep Brook Lopez AND get another big free agent like CP3. One or the other and only the overrated and poor-defending Lopez is in their control.
8. A second rate team in NY that nobody will care about even if they played all their games in Brooklyn. Even if the Knicks lent them MSG. Still nobody would care.

But he DOES get ...

1. A $65M extension ... that could be rolled back or that could be pretty much the same as the contract he can get with the Knicks in the summer under the new CBA.

If that decision is not for the money, then what the hell is!?!?!?!

It's also foolishly for the money because he will not receive bad treatment under the new CBA, but it's still clearly and 1000% for the sense of security that comes with the extension -- i.e., it's ALL about the money and nothing else.
