It angers me as a Knick fan that our management has been so consistently bad for so many years now, while the flagship franchise on the left coast keeps making winning move after winning move.

The Dwight Howard trade specifically reminds me of how poorly Dolan handled the Melo negotiations. It specifically reminds me of how delusional Isiah Thomas was in the Eddy Curry trade. It specifically reminds me of how horrified I still am to this day about the Antonio McDyess trade.

Call it derailing if you want, Paco. The way I see it, the Dwight Howard trade should make every person who's ever been an executive for the Knicks in the post-Ewing/Jim Dolan era hang their head in shame.

What about the 27 other teams (I'm omitting the Celtics and Spurs) who can never seem to get deals like this?

The problem is most disgruntled superstars want to: a) go to a big market team, b) go to a win now team, c) go to a team where another one of their fellow superstar buddies are playing and/or d) go to a team that is close to his hearts/roots.

The Rockets aren't a), they won't likely be good enough for b), they don't have anyone that really qualifies as c)...which leaves them with d) as the lure. How many native Houston-ites are there among the superstar elite? Can't even go with the "he's from Texas" route cause I'd imagine the Mavericks are the more desirable destination for free agents.

This trade does impact us doesn't it? It means we are keeping our 2014 draft pick correct? The 2014 draft pick was the one that the Nuggets had swap right too correct? Now the Magic have that pick and we will be better than them....So it does impact the Knicks

For the 2014 first round pick, Denver will send whichever is the lower / less favorable pick to Orlando (either ours from the Melo deal or their original first round pick).

Not quite the "which would you rather have a kick to the balls or a bat to the head"...but kinda along that route? Neither pick likely will be that great.

Makes as much sense as the Daryl Morrey conversation. To say this has nothing to do with the Knicks is all fine and well, but it's using semantics to perpetrate a lie.

If it had nothing to do with the Knicks, then I wouldn't be having PTSD flashbacks to the Eddy Curry trade.

Trading Bynum for Howard is incredibly smart; incredibly franchise-changing. It reflects a culture of winning that is starkly opposite from anything we've seen in NY for generations now.

I'm sorry the concept baffles you, but it seems like pretty direct comparison to me. How that's "derailing" a thread in a board that says "New York Knicks" at the top is what baffles me.
