I wouldn't try and rub it in... he's closer to doing what Capn said he was going to do than what you said he was going to do which was revert back to his december productivity.. if you win it'll end up being a fractions of a point in the assists per game category. He's shot the ball better... and he's scored better... it's just the assists which Harden gobbles up where he might come up short.

Capn'O wrote:But I knew he would hit his ppg and fg% reqs. He is just such a better scorer than he showed early on. The assists made it fun. I just wasn't sure what his ultimate role in the offense would be. Thought he would initiate a little more... that his usage would go up a hair... but it didn't. And Omer "Hands of A$$"ik never really got that pass catching thing down pat.

Point still being... 12/6 and 40% and that's all he'll ever be?

Not really.

13/6/44%

Granted, there's no way he could build on that  Anyone want next year's bet that his ppg will be lower?

I'll take a bet his Fg% is lower than 45% next season and I'll also take a bet he averages 13.9ppg or less.
He was a 12/6 guy in January and now he's a 13/6 guy. wow!!! When do we declare him the undisputed GOAT?

Jeremy Lin is the best basketball player ever to play the game. That is the exact argument I've been making this entire time and I stand by it. Indisputable.

LOL. You guys really don't get it do you? I didn't try to make any predictions about Lin, other than to say he's the player he is. I made that bet purely based on Stats and the fact that I had an 85% chance to win it.

One of us winning two categories and the other winning one category was the most likely outcome and that's exactly what happened. I didn't win this bet by chance or luck. I won it because the odds were overwhelmingly tilted in my favor.

Same thing with the Bulls bet I made.

Lol. Guy goes from 12/6 to 13/6 and you're touting it as some gigantic leap which makes him a different player. He's shot the ball a little better. Still the same player he was.

Hey grumpy old guy... What you said and the bet you agreed to was that his numbers would be worse than 12.4 ppg, 6.4 apg, and 43.9% FG%... under the impression that he would go back to december's production... and sadly for you, you were more wrong than you were right.

You're a self proclaimed math expert... how many assists does he need to bring his 6.1 per to 6.5 in his last 13 games?

TBH, I was mostly trying to taunt QK and ShumpSt with that bet. They never would have taken it. I knew (and said as much) that I was in trouble with the assists. Would be nice if some people, not naming names, could admit that November was an anomaly - my main point - but people here know what they saw.

At this point in his career he is clearly on par with guys like Kevin Johnson and Isiah Thomas but I expect him to surpass Oscar Robertson by next year. The leap is enormous. Absolutely monumental.

Too **** many. I never wrote him that letter explaining the severity of the situation. That is my biggest regret. In life. But things got busy.

He needs to average about 8.2 assists per game to take you over 6.4... not impossible.. we wait.. we watch... we root... hey it'll be entertainment at least. about 106 assists over his last 13 games.

The bet I agreed to one that ONE of his numbers will be worse. I never thought he would go back to 10/5. That would be as nonsensical as him becoming suddenly much better.

How is it sad that I won the bet?

You can root, but I has a chance of around 1/100,000 of happening.

But you certainly thought he'd have another 10/5 month. I think it's pretty clear by now that the November start was an anomalous stretch of games, no? January - when we made the bet - was his second worst statistical month at 12/42% which is a pretty far cry from 10/37%.

Assists was always the crapshoot. I knew he was a better scorer than he had shown but that assists number is so dependent on your role in the offense AND other players' skillsets as well as the player's skillset. I'll take my crow for ponying up there as I really didn't have a feel for the players around Lin and how McHale would develop that offense this season.

On next year's bet - considering... I feel pretty good about him eclipsing the 13.9 mark. The 45% mark should be close. Perhaps beyond that, I'm not sure I want to spend another year on a Lin bet.

I thought you couldn't just ignore November. It doesn't mean he'll have another 10/5 month, but rather that he'll have more bad stretches.

Everything was a crapshoot. You won on PPG and lost on assists. Could have gone the other way.

Sure. Peaks and valleys. But NONE of those valleys were as deep as the November stretch.

New team. Back from an injury. Integrating new skills.

You call these excuses. I call them an explanation for the production arc that I predicted and that we actually saw as the year has progressed.

Lol. You still think I was lucky when I said he was a better scorer than his stats said at that point. He has essentially kept at a 14ppg/45% clip since November with minor fluctuations around those numbers.

He was 14/6 with the Knicks last season, so those numbers are not inconceivable. I don't think he can get above 14 on the same team with Harden, and the Rockets are likely to get another scorer. 45% seems a little High for him.
