RJ is rougher, more like the Jimmy Butler type, or somewhere in between. That’s not a against him, T-Mac was in that 0.1%, much like his cousin. Skills-wise, I kinda see the comp though. The rare mix of scoring instincts and playmaking skills for a big wing.
Jimmy butler is a good physical comp.

Sounds like a good player, but for him, and that thought of trading for picks, I think the Knicks are still in that "get that top 2 players" mode. Yes, they had one in KP, but he's gone, whatever the story or take someone believes in.

Who knows what "top 2" or 3 are anymore? Look at Zion, for example. He could be a bust. Who knows if his frame can carry a locomotive train that can jump skyscrapers. His outside shot sucks too.

I think people get smitten with shiny objects. You watch, the pearls in this draft won't be the first three picks.

The staff must have gotten through to him after Game 2 and told him to slow down. Stop rushing, stop going 100 mph all the time, try to play with a bit of pace. He started using a hesitation dribble--and having success with it--after the second game. Looking back at his highlights throughout SL, most of his best plays off the dribble involved a hesi.

Grant Hill was one of the 5 greatest college players ever and was an A+ NBA athlete prior to his ankle disintegrating. RJ isn't close to an A+ NBA athlete.

After long and careful consideration I can now say with complete confidence the perfect comp for RJ Barrett is Tilda Swinton

grant hill averaged 14.9 ppg 6.0 RPG and 3.6 APG in his 4 years in college, Barrett averaged 22.6 PPG 7.6 RPG and 4.3 APG as an 18 y/o, so I guess that's something

I think the kid has a great physical foundation to build on. He seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders. He needs to work on things. All rookies do. I was real hard on him after the first 3 1/2 games. I shut off the 3rd game...which looks like he played decent stat wise...after I tuned out. Beginning of the 4th game I was going in on him. Couldn't shoot ..dribble...defend...etc. I was mad!

He showed me good things in that game. I'm not as worried as I was going into that game. Can he put it all together? We'll see. I like the kid. I see more in him than I originally did. He wants to be a Knick. I'm rooting for him 100% It should be fun watching these kids grow together.

I can confidently say after watching Barrett at Duke and SL that he'll be a very good NBA player. I don't see a bust at all. He'll be at a Jalen Rose level at the very worst.

How far would a team of No.1s not including Zion go this year?

DeAndre Ayton
Markelle Fultz
Ben Simmons
Karl-Anthony Towns
Andrew Wiggins

Return to New York Knicks
