If I had to do player comparison based on today's players - O4 reminds me of Al Jefferson while Towns reminds me of Horford. Depending upon the system, I think that's where/how you make your choice. For instance, an isolation offense like Woodson ran would seemingly be best served selecting O4 but a motion offense would seemingly be best selecting Towns

Towns has been really impressive lately. He has been filling the boxscore but it's the little things like a nice cross court pass from the post, running the floor to finish or blocking shots like a banshey. A player that can do all those things would look really nice in a knicks jersey

AGREE! That wrap around pass along with that left handed baby hook off glass was quite impressive, not to mention the bounds and blocked shots

not sure if posted

“If you are looking for a guy that can help you right away, I think Okafor will have a bigger impact as a rookie,” says one NBA executive whose team is expected to have a top 12 pick. “But if you’re an owner and you’re looking for a guy that can change your franchise over the next three years, I’d say Towns.

However, NBA executives all agree that Towns needs to improve his lower body strength because he can easily be moved out of the post.

He doesn't have upside like those guys at all. Not near the athlete Davis was in college. I'd still take one of the guards over this guy and not look back. I'm sorry but the Knicks are in dire need of a penetrating guard that can get others involved and or score. Signing a guy like Robin Lopez and drafting either Mudiay or Russell is better than drafting Towns and signing a guy like Danny Green.

I dunno... he's not the leaper that AD is but he's a lot bulkier but still moves very fluidly and has an insanely high motor. I can't think of many guys who've had a better combination of strength, agility, and coordination.

Agreed , leaping ability is not everything, body control, agility, just knowing how to ball all come into play. That's why players like Zach Randolph can thrive. Even a young Tim Duncan, while gifted athletically never jumped out of the gym.

Honestly, I'm leaning towards Towns now. Knicks need a top 5 player in the future to have a chance at a title. And if Towns gives a better shot at that, then I'll gamble on him instead of Okafor.

Not real gamble in Towns, I don't know why people are saying he isnt ready to contribute when he's been playing against NBA players and practices against NBA prospects daily.

He's far from raw.

I concur, not to mention his timing is tremendous, I specifically like when he actually waits for the player to jump before he jumps to block....his length helps him out with that....wingspan of a 7'3" player! I'm starting to think that Phil will look to trade for a star for Melo or a very good player and late lottery pick or similar mindset. Hopefully we'll be able to pick up a young building piece, a solid starter while remaining flexible for 2016 free agency. Our front office has options but a lot of work to do, kind of exciting yet...... Scary as a Knick Fan which such bad luck for so long.

Looking at the poll results, it's obvious that Knicks fans are sleeping on D'Angelo Russell. This kid will instantly help this franchise and is a better fit with Melo. I don't see Melo or whoever our PG will be next season maximizing the talents of Towns or Okafor. Take the shooter/playmaker.

Suggest people take a look at the interview Mike Francesa had with John Calipari on March 4th here http://newyork.cbslocal.com/audio/mike-francesa/

Towns is growing into something special and can impact the game in every way. Calipari talks about what Town could soon become, and it's scary good we could actually have a guy like this who can shoot, rebound, defend, pass, hit freethrows. I'm still torn b/w the two of Okafor or Towns, but I trust Phil will make the right call. His people have the better eyes and scouts, so they know what to look for to make the right choice.

Rough game for D Russell, but he showed us his passing skills.

Great anticipation and touch for getting teammates the ball.

Still 2nd on my board behind KAT

Okafor is going to be the preeminent low post scorer in the NBA for years to come. His touch around the rim is not teachable. It's something you are born with. He should still be the #1 guy.

Trade the pick to Chicago if we go 2 or 3...They will be in need of a point guard (Mudiay/Russell) with a breaking down Rose...Re-open the Melo scenario with them giving us Snell-Mirotic-McDermott-Taj Gibson and Pick...along with them not matching our offer for Butler at the max..and we unload Jose on them...

Pg---Bring back Lin
Butler
Melo
Taj Gibson

A very realistic scenario.

P.S: Anyone know how to change the color of the font?

I'm hard on the kid because I've been suckered by his ilk before, but Okafor really is a thing of beauty on the block that you don't see anymore. Clyde would say he is tantalizing and mesmerizing. Jah is just automatic if he gets within 10 feet and you don't double him.

People say post play isn't necessary anymore. It's not that it isn't necessary (it will always be effective) it's just that most post players these days seem to only be one way players, so they've developed a bad rep. If Al Jefferson played defense like Joakim Noah there'd be no question he'd be a top 10, maybe even top 5 player. This is why I like Towns the best, because even if he's not AS good as Jah in the post he still projects to be pretty damn good there along with every other thing he does.

So I hope my gut is wrong about Jah on that other end, and he can learn to become even an average defender. Half of defense is effort and it will always annoy me to see some guys out there making millions of dollars to play a game yet they can't bust their ass for a few hours every couple of days (while spending half of those game hours sitting or standing around). It's an insult to the fans.

If we do take Okafor this is all that we need to do:

- Get the Monstars to steal Willis Reed's balls while he sleeps.
- Surgically implant them onto Jahlil. Give Willis Jahlil's young balls to have some fun with.
- Keep Willis' balls on Jahlil until he retires.
- After retirement, switch their balls back. If Willis dies before this happens have Jahlil's balls frozen.
- Have Willis' balls commemorated. John Starks will present them at halftime.
- Let Jahlil have some kids with his defrosted youthful ballsack re-attached.
