Vildoza was really bad in the Olympics too. I probably caught like 3 or 4 of Argentina's games and when I saw he couldn't turn the corner off the dribble against Spain or Nigeria, it made me pretty confident he wasn't an NBA player. There are some NBA guys on those rosters but if you can't hang with them, you're definitely not hanging with a squad full of NBA guys. It's a shame too cuz I thought he'd be a solid bench guy.

Can’t wait for The Vildoza Appreciation thread.

I thought he'd be a decent bench guy/someone who made the team.

No way he's making the team now though.

Not an unreasonable expectation but there were others talking a lot of smack. They must be dealt with.

It's weird too cuz Summer league was what 2 months ago and he's still in a walking boot for a sprained ankle? How bad could that sprain be that he needs more than 8 weeks for it to heal? I guess maybe he doesn't think he's fighting for his NBA life?

True, he didnt look great in the olympics. Who knows, he could have been playing hurt? He looked better in Euroleague. Not sure if he is an nba player or not, but wouldnt rule him out as a backup somewhere. Maybe not here just cause it got pretty crowded though.

Would rather see the rookies get next up priority over Vildoza. Cut him he’s dead weight

VIldoza doesn't have a role on the team now that Kemba is here. He has a non-guaranteed deal so I am sure they are keeping him and maybe they can find a trade before the start of the season or they could just waive him.

Kemba/Rose are going to split the time and any spot minutes should go to McBride for defensive purposes.

In the Olympics? This is the first time I'm hearing that. Do you have a source on it?

They discovered a stress fracture, presumably afterwards. It was more than a sprain

Maybe Clyde still has the other Euro Knicks PG on his mind. Frank ...

He's the only Knicks PG who was injured during the Olympics. Of course. I went on the internets and couldn't find anything.

Glad Thibs recognize how potent that bench unit was. It's really the main reason to be bullish on this Knicks team in the Eastern Conference. Rose/Quickley absolutely slaughtered teams. +15 per 100 possessions for those 2 together and when you add in Burks it stayed high at +12.

Knicks can do a lot of mixing and matching in the back court this year that a lot of teams can't afford.

Look at what being able to play cost controlled rookie deal guys good minutes without a tradeoff allows you to do :D

Mitch
RJ
Obi
Quick

are all rotation level guys and they combine make up only 16% of the Salary Cap for roughly 40%-50% of their rotation on a given night.

Really allowed the Knicks to be able to spend to keep their depth at an elite level.

One of the big gripes with Thibs was that he didn't experiment enough in the regular season last year so when it came time to the playoffs we didn't have many counters that we could reliably go to.

Hopefully we get more Randle and/or Obi at C minutes this year even if it sacrifices a win here or there... As long as we can get to the 6 seed, I think we have enough of a punchers chance at whomever ends up at 3 in the East to win a playoff series.

Stress fractures are often discovered some time after the initial problem starts. He was playing poorly for the first time in his career prior to showing up here and being diagnosed

Anyway, too many know-it-alls proclaiming him not an NBA player. I’ll take Prigioni’s insights over the wannabe experts here

As a former competitive runner I can attest to the fact that people really can't rush back on stress fractures. 2- 3 months is a pretty normal timeline for them. The only thing that heals them is rest. Especially in basketball when all of your movements are done on a very unforgiving surface. Puts a lot of impact stress on your lower leg bones/foot. The results of either rushing back from a stress fracture or unknowingly playing through one can be quite catastrophic tbh (see Kevin Ware in the NCAA tournament).
