Re: Trades and Transactions, 2022 Edition
Harris has one of the worst contracts in the league. It runs as long as Fournier's, but is literally double the amount of money. Let that sink in.
Including him in a Simmons trade would negate a good chunk of whatever value Simmons has left. A multi-team deal is the only thing that would make sense.

They not playing around. However Morey always be tryna OD.
What team(s) is going to make a $70 million trade deal? I imagine that it would probably have to include Westbrook and Wall.
The Kings can easily give them the 55M (80% of 69M) required to get Ben and Tobias. They have Fox(28M), Buddy (22M), Barnes (20M), and Bagley (11M). Besides, these contracts probably are even positive ones. Kings can build a team with Haliburton, Devon Mitchell, and Holmes.

Knox, Deuce and a FRP for Reddish. It gives them a young player, cap space and a FRP.

First where would Reddish play unless they move Fournier and or Burks and or Grimes..second what exactly would be the reason for atl, basically get a first round pick? I don’t see why the Knicks would do it

Plan is apparently to offer the bag of money to Harden. So it would be a bank shot against the Nets.
There is a nice plan. But they would have two options to clear cap space to get Harden (42M). Assuming cap space would be 119M, they would have to limit themselves to only 77M in cap space, And they already invested 55,5M in Embiid (33,5M), Seth (8,5M), Forkan (5M), Matisse (4,5M) and. Maxey (3M).
They would have to move Simmons and Tobias in a multiple-team deal for expiring contracts and there are too few of it this season: Gary Harris (20M Magic), Dragic (19M Toronto), Rubio (18M Cavs), Young (14M SAS), Bevs (13M Wolves), Warren (13M Pacers), Prince (13M Wolves), Ingles (13M Jazz), RoCo (13M Blazers), Nurkic (12M Blazers), Lamb (10M Pacers), Ibaka (10M LAC), Sato (10M Pelicans), Tristan (10M Kings), SloMo(10M Memphis), DJones (10M Miami).
Or trade contracts in the offseason to cap spaced teams to not get salary in return. There are too few teams with meaningful cap space next season. Probably, only Orlando, San Antonio, and Detroit.

it's assumed that ATL don't want to pay Reddish and want the capspace. Flip Burks to a contender.

As much as I would love to move on from Randle for a plethora of reasons, I find some peace knowing that Randle is making $26 million to Tobias $38 million next season. The fact that Randle is shooting an abysmal 31% from 3PT yet Harris is shooting 29% feels mind boggling. To this day I cannot understand Tobias getting $180 million. It's absolutely unforgivable.

Forget about Zion. The Pelicans will not let him go unless he is done for NBA.

Yup. It's not one of those hindsight situations -- it was a terrible deal the moment they offered it.

So maybe we replace Deuce with Grimes in the trade? In that case, I'm not sure we'd need to give up an unprotected FRP. Maybe a second or two.

Zion can’t keep his weight down enough to keep from getting hurt, yet Knicks fans clamoring for him to do the same thing for the Knicks only to be doing on a max contract..putting it that way, then sure he sounds like the perfect Knick

I like the Burks/Reddish deal, I would do that for sure. just made a similar swap in 2k last night
My Plan:
Trade Burks, 2nd for Reddish
Trade Randle to SAC for Bagley, Thompson, 2022 1st (top 4 protected), 2024 pick (top 10 protected)....similar deal as Magic got for Vuc and what we got for KP (I'd settle for less if the protection on this years pick was lighter)
Trade Mitch for a late 1st. Bobby Marks suggested Mitch, Knox to OKC for Favors, 2022 1st (via PHX). I also think a team like Memphis could be interested, they've got 3 1sts this draft
Off-season:
Fire Leon, Thibs
Hire Milt Newton, Kenny Atkinson
Sign Jalen Smith
Draft....hard to say b/c we obviously don't know where the lotto picks would wind up, but w/ those trades we'd probably have something similar to the Magic last draft (picks 5, 8)
lotto players I really like: Jabari Smith, Paolo Banchero, Jaden Ivey, Jaden Hardy, Johnny Davis, Benedict Mathurin, TyTy Washington
If we were to land a top 2 pick, I'd take Smith or Banchero, then trade Obi (+ more if need be) to move up to land Ivey. if that's not possible, still likely in range to get 1 of Hardy, Davis, TyTy
I'd obviously try to trade Fournier too if possible w/o having to attach a 1st or taking on a longer contract. I actually do think he could help a better team

Yeah don’t think anything is possible except for the reddish deal. They are 3 games out of the 6th seed with 40 to play and playing better. They will not trade randle and definitely won’t fire thibs this early on…. Small deal for a SF like reddish is realListic

Harris is about 10 million per year overpaid. If not ranging into 15-20, in that players who produce at a similar level can comfortably be found for that much. I mean, Jerami Grant got 3 years, 20 million.
It's a killer. Morey is right to try and include it. While Harris is a good player and a decent stretch 4, it's partially killing them. I mean, it's possible they could have a player about as productive - as a vet, and another 20 million $ player.
Maybe OKC absorbs him for some moar picks
I feel like with the cap space, picks, extra young players, they'll be facilitators in at least one big trade and maybe also a few smaller ones.
I get OKC has their own considerations about roster consolidation, trading up in the draft etc - which is what I assume is behind stacking a ton of picks and young talent - but I could see them easily getting involved in a few trades this year as well.
Not that it's Harris. That was just a thought/spitballing.

Funny enough in high school Gordon was one half of a dynamic AAU powerhouse alongside none other than D. Rose.....
Gordon is someone I have wanted the Knicks to get for a while. He would be a better Burks in the role Burks is playing now. That contract to match is hefty though with 1 guaranteed year left next season at 19.5 mil. Would have to be more than Knox and a 2nd.
