Bucher: really has the sense that Jeremy wanted Houston, didn't have to sign the offer sheet, knew it would be hard on the Knicks

I think Lin wanted to do what's best for Lin, and I don't blame him Stat, Melo, JR, Novak, Kidd, and so on all did what's best for them, why shouldn't Lin do the same?

He was unrecruited, undrafted, he knows he has to take whatever he can get. The Knicks offered him nothing but promises at the time he met for Houston.

Seriously letting Lin walk wouldn't be even close to the dumbest thing this organization has done, but the character assassination is ridiculous.

Agreeing with what hes saying right now. LIN is the reason this happened. Probably did not want to come back to NY

Time will tell if this is a (good) bball decision. If Lin's under huge pressure to perform, same goes for the whole Knicks team.

Even if you think Lin is overrated or won't ever live up to his potential, a smart fan would have realized from a basketball perspective, this makes absolutely no sense. The Knicks are letting an asset walk for NOTHING. He would have also bolstered our depth in the backcourt. Not to mention, because of that stretch provision, the financial impact isn't as great as the media is making it out to be. Sure, if that wasn't in place, I could understand the financial reason for letting him go. This is a bad basketball decision any way you look at it.

Not going to jump off a clip like some overreacting in here, but the people in here who want to see Lin go, are also incredibly misinformed.

greenhughes wrote:What is this marketing I'm constantly hearing about. The NBA shares revenue right? So the Knicks will make money off of Lin wherever he goes. No? The whole NBA will make money off of Lin.

I think the small markets get the bigger cut, but to honest the cash cow reference is primarily non basketball related, as long as he is a good player of course, otherwise Yi could be marketed as well.

The only thing the Knicks gains the most profit of basketball related is sales at the Garden.

If that's the case then I'm glad the Knicks didn't sign the offer sheet. I want players who want to be in NY.

Obviously the Knicks didn't feel that way. I feel people on "how could we let him go for nothing" I think the Knicks looked @ the numbers & felt it wasn't worth the risk. I also believe they were salty about the whole restructuring of the contract, which probably didn't help Lin either

i see it as 5 to 10% the first and 90 to 95% the latter. i really don't see it as a basketball or business decision. dolan is simply pissed about the deal changing last minute. that's the only scenario that makes the slightest bit of sense.

Kind of reminds me of when the spurs were unsure about signing Tony Parker or going for the older jason Kidd. Its like dejavu and I think Tim Duncan restructured his contract to help retain parker. I think Amare should step in and do that

I still believe Lin has the talent to be a really good player in the NBA before Linsanity and I still feel that way after. He's going to be a really good PG in this league. I could be wrong... but what I saw from a talent standpoint I doubt I am. He'll be in the upper half of the league when it comes to PG's.

The kid's been doubted before... he's being doubted now and he keeps proving people wrong.. I doubt that's going to change. You figure Linsanity would have made it clear to the casual fan.. but obviously it didn't.
