Although, he's a guy who they can give the ball to and he's going to get a bucket in quite a variety of ways or get to the line while not being a black hole either.

Once Siakam gets his max contract after this season he becomes a very productive and efficient two way player but who can't really generate his own shot with any consistency he's going to be overpaid. His offensive game is still very rudimentary though effective but he's older than Randle.

My assessment was a little premature because he did go black hole too often and didn't shoot the 3 well in his frustrating initial season with the Knicks but then this season he fulfilled my words nicely.

....oh and I nailed the overpaid Siakam call.

Yeah what amare had was explosion and developed a great mid range. Randle is a baller.

Welp...

But what I don't like his how poor he is on defense. Knicks are still developing. We need to teach these guys that it is important to win games, not go out there to fill up your boxscore. That's why we supposedly got rid of Kanter.

Stannis wrote:Unless a series injury happens, this contract is easily movable. It definitely could have been worse.

Welp. I vastly underrated his defense and leadership skills. But I was ok with his contract. I'll take that lol.

At least I was consistent with my Tank-or-Bust philosophy. At the time, I thought the worst case scenario for this deal was we flip him for nothing. Best case we flip him for picks. I wasn't expecting him to be the engine of this team and play like this. To be quite honest, after his first year, I thought we fcked up.

To be a fair, lot of people freaked out because they thought it was a 3 year deal. Some posters like K Dot and GONYK took back their original comments.

Lot of the butthurt at the time was largely due to:

(1) Randle and Knox playing the same position and people still thought Knox was NBA material. Signing Randle was basically admitting Knox was a wasted pick (duh?) and there was no salvaging the pick. People were hoping we stayed crappy and played Knox 30 minutes a game out of desperation in hopes he becomes good. Why people thought it was better giving the worst player in the NBA minutes instead of Randle is beyond me. Knox sucked and always sucked. His issue wasn't playing time or bad coaching. His issue was that he isn't an NBA basketball player and needed the D-League.

(2) We were promised Kevin Durant for like 2 years haha.

For example, if DSJ and Frank underwhelm during training camp and preseason? It's an easy way out for Fixdale in the name of bringing some continuity to a brand new starting lineup?

Payton will still get burn. He adds a dimension only RJ can match.

Ugh when EP was a driving and dish guard.

I mean he's going to be the closet thing to David Lee we've seen in quite some time with maybe better man to man defense and less assists.

I called DLee a double double machine and possible all star in his rookie season and was laughed at but even he wasn't as offensively skilled as Randle, either. I saw some post saying he's one a handful of players who had 21ppg, 8rpg and 3apg last season along with LeBron, AD, Giannis.

Just get him to play some defense and maybe he'll be a keeper.

Thibs figured out how to get him to play defense and now he's a keeper....

I say we get a strong coach if Fiz starts failing again. Thibs? Just demand and instill team D.

Other than that, the player himself leaves a lot to be desired. One dimensional, high turnovers, lackadaisical.

I guess it's a decent risk/reward signing for the length of the contract.

Surprised I wasn't more harsh initially.

Glad he proved me wrong.

i say you’re reaching because if you dive deeper you can see me saying this contract could be great if randle’s game trends well

ask 3toheadmelo, he even did this same diving and find the post i’m talking about

I hated that summer in general. Randle didn’t look good last year. Credit to Randle for taking his game to the next level. He is now over performing his contract. That said, no reason to shame anyone. Randle is not the same player

It would be better if it is a 3 year team option or it is a regressive salary but I doubt it. Must be 20, 21 and 22.

I had liked... And I thought it would be more risky and expensive.

I wasn't impressed with this signing and also discussed trading him for Batum to get out of his 4 million guarantee. I am proud to be ashamed of my underestimation - I love Randle V2.0.
