Glad Thibs recognize how potent that bench unit was. It's really the main reason to be bullish on this Knicks team in the Eastern Conference. Rose/Quickley absolutely slaughtered teams. +15 per 100 possessions for those 2 together and when you add in Burks it stayed high at +12.

Knicks can do a lot of mixing and matching in the back court this year that a lot of teams can't afford.

Look at what being able to play cost controlled rookie deal guys good minutes without a tradeoff allows you to do :D

Mitch
RJ
Obi
Quick

are all rotation level guys and they combine make up only 16% of the Salary Cap for roughly 40%-50% of their rotation on a given night.

Really allowed the Knicks to be able to spend to keep their depth at an elite level.

Bootum wrote an interesting article yesterday about how Rose and Burks played their best when one or the other was out with covid/injuries.

So that could be something to keep an eye on if we can get them to mesh cuz it might make the bench even more explosive.

I’m realizing now how much all of us (myself included) have excluded Obi from our comments and expectations. I think that is an oversight and I do hope he erupts this season

well hello friends.....good afternoon to you

The most I’ve ever seen Mitch lock in was when he was trying to break Wilt’s FG% record. Contract year Mitch is going to be a problem if he brings that same focus.

There likely will be some drop off in defense for the Knicks and Bullock will surely be missed but he had some short comings that revealed themselves in the playoffs.

The Knicks weren't going to match what the Mavs offered and the Mavs roster make up, especially with Luka being the main creator, is more capable of covering for his one dimensional offense game.

There are going to be some times when RJ struggles defensively with certain players and fans will wonder if it was better to go that extra mile to keep Bullock.

Ultimately though the Knicks needed to upgrade their perimeter creation as the playoffs showed us and Bullock was important to the success to get there but his limitations will hold down the team's ceiling.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Yo Clyde, speaking for myself, but feel like Im speaking for many when it comes to Obi.

I'm afraid that we'll lose Obi one day. Seeing his growth without room to shine as a starter bugs me somehow.
Like conflicted.

But when I hear him speak, as one of the core youth, he's relishing what he has in Thibs, teammates, coaches and Leon.

That and his humbleness let's me know he's about this culture and whatever contibutions he can add this year.

Interested in what we do with jericho sims. Think he can be special and a big part of what we’re doing.

I want him to attach himself to Obi and IQ and develop some chemistry.

I think it means both Burks and Rose like to have the ball in their hands and that is what makes them most effective.

Not taking anything away from either, but it may mean that there is a better addition to IQ/Rose than Burks. Where either Knicks stagger RJ and Fournier to have one of them be the guy who gets time with IQ and Rose more, at the expense of Burks, or even that Grimes emerges as a guy who is better off the ball than Burks. Big if on that one of course.

I'm not taking this for granted. This team is stacked on paper. Mix of vets and kids and togetherness. Its going to be shocking seeing Fournier and Kemba. sheesh..
