I said this after Burns signing.

I’m not even sure if Burns was worth trading for and signing this offseason, but I kept quiet cause he has game. We have son many holes and he snatched up a huge chunk of cap.

And all those holes is showing right now.

This is the regimes third year. They came in hamstrung by a young qb that wasn’t good, isn’t good, and looking like hell never be good. I don’t know how Schoen or Daboll felt about Danny coming in, but we know Mara loved/loves him, and Mara’s rhetoric is echoed throughout the fan base. He’s made more excuses for Danny than anybody. If you’re Schoen, in order to get the job you basically have to commit to making it work with Danny. Do you take the job with that arm tied behind your back?? Of course! There are only 32 GM jobs. Can’t bank on a better situation coming up later.

To me a GM’s job is threefold: players and acquisitions, coaches and staff like scouts, and resource allocation I.e salary cap and contracts. He hasn’t drafted a true stud yet. He did trade for one in Burns in a deal most analysts say we largely won. Par. Daboll looked like a great coach the playoff year but in other years he’s failed to build a cohesive staff that can succeed. The scouts have yet to identify mid to late round gems every good to great team needs to build a contender. That or the coaches aren’t developing them. Either way, Bogey at best, and based on the way asst coaches keep trying to bail, probably double bogey. Great contracts have been given to Dex and Thomas, and Okereke was an excellent signing in hindsight, but the Daniel Jones contract at this point is such a debacle, especially when he could’ve given him a fifth year option, or franchise him instead of signing that deal. Then we lose two of our best players in Saquon and McKinney, and that portion feels like a double bogey too, especially since he didn’t draft Thomas or Dex.

The Schoen/Daboll combo isn’t working yet, but I wouldn’t get rid of them either. I really think the stench of Danny is that great, and has clouded the whole picture and the owners mind.

what you mean hamstrung.

They could have let DJ go after year one.
So no they weren’t hamstrung.

Schoen was actually blessed to be in that situation and fumbled the ball by giving him a contract when he was ass that year as well.

Nah this ain’t all on DJ.

Schoen and Daboll suck at their Job as well.Saying anything else is disregarding the facts that has been shown.

Daboll only successful track record is having a generational level QB who is still playing at an elite level without Daboll.

Schoen was under bean and looks like he learned nothing once he steps outside of the shadow of a good GM.

There is no way in hell if they were both competent in their jobs , should we be looking like this three years after Getty.

I can’t jack anything you saying here.

All three is buns and need to go.

What more do you neees from Daboll and Schoen a fourth year of the same nonsense?

We made the playoffs off a roster Getty built by smoke and mirrors , but we have largely sucked since day one with those two at the top.

Year One was the playoff year. They could’ve let him go, but ownership and half the fan base would’ve hated that. That’s why I said they should’ve franchised him and resigned saquon. Better to miss on a 12 million dollar back than a 40+ qb. I truly Mara mandated trying to save Danny as part of the interview process in 2022. They said the qb decision would be on Schoen, but only after telling him and the public and media how much e we screwed Danny up and how we needed to fix the team around him over, and over, and over again.

same, i think he can still be a good player but...

also have to question whether it's good team building practice to pay 3 guys on the d-line (if we are including kayvon in a few years) top of the market money. are we leaving the cupboard too barren at other positions?

he does fit the timeline though and plays a premium position. i'm not convinced he's a top 10 edge in this league worthy of resetting the top of the edge market if that's what he's looking for

well good thing is we probably wont be paying Kayvon. What has he done outside a select few games?

I don't even remember a play he made yesterday...you might as well told me he was hurt and wasn't on the field he was that non-existent.

They can't march him out there again but yesterday was it for me. He had adequate protection and he was horrible. It's over.

He needs to be deactivated. The sound bytes I heard from the team last night were a cry for help. He can't play again

Also is it just me or the QB play around the league sucked yesterday...there were some really good performances by the likely guys but even some teams that won the QB's played horribly.

Yeah it's bad. Kayvon hasn't improved at all from his rookie season. He has zero moves at the point of engagement. I wouldn't pay him a dime

On that note, Neal is a complete bust, Thibs is looking like he's not going to be anything special at the edge. Average player. This falls at the feet of the front office and there inability to evaluate talent.

I don't trust Schoen at this point to pick a QB. I was against firing anyone because I value continuity but that was a team that was unprepared to play yesterday for the 2nd opening day in a row and none of his picks have worked out. I see no improvement from anyone of note.

Not good.

regardless, that's still 2 guys on our d-line being paid top dollar to provide not a whole lot against the sam darnold vikings.

i agree that kayvon shouldn't get a next deal. he looks like a bust for where he was drafted. it looks like schoen's shaping up to be a horrible talent evaluator

it was like this last year too. teams are going younger and younger at QB to try and get them more reps and playing time.

Kayvon got that crucial facemasking penalty when we stopped them on 3rd and 15 when we were trying to get it back to a one score game.

At some point they need to bench him. If he suffers a major injury they are really screwed with his contract. Its obvious that he's not it and they need to move on. Just a matter of when.

The really discouraging part is the rest of the team looked awful too. Priority is to find a QB in the draft next year. But they'll probably still win a handful of games. Gonna be another painful season. I'm already checked out.

yes you are right he was worse than non-existent he kept a drive alive in the 3rd qtr on that 3rd and long where they would have punted and then they ended up scoring. Those are boneheaded plays.

It was a little sloppy around the league, and looked like a lot of rust all around.

Even still Jones had one of the worst performances. Maybe only Watson and Young were worst. That Watson deal is really bad. And not looking good at all for Young. Car looks like a lock for the #1 pick.
