I wish so badly that we were playing in the Finals now

But because of an idiot (is it taboo to say that of one of the most BRILLIANT bball minds of ALL TIME whose Knicks teams in his 5 years repeatedly left 3 point shooters open + wide open paint??) coaching us we will have to wait ANOTHER year to potentially be in the Finals

I believe all of the mistakes we made in the ECF were basic fundamental defensive errors that can be quickly addressed by someone SLIGHTLY more competent than Tommy "one of the most BRILLIANT bball minds of ALL TIME" Thibby. Because I believe we have a championship worthy roster...

it's all especially bizarre to me when juxtaposed against the end of ECF G1 where thibs then didn't ride the group that had the game in hand.

like, snoop on the wire. **** the rotation, old man.

The playoffs showed the flaws in Thibslam, and the righteous crusaders against its spread have secured our seat in the Kingdom of the Finals.

thibslam is about toughness and togetherness. we stand with you against extremism.

painting all nation family as extremists is a problem. you know that.

thanks for everything, thibs.

Especially given who we're tied to as a replacement, this feels more like a "we can't work with you anymore" than an indictment on his coaching. Once that is established there's usually no going back as Thibs became a public issue in both of his previous stops. We got out front of the ensuing tire fire.

My guess is absolutely but in the straw breaking the camel's back sort of way.

Alan Hahn pretty much said that they wanted to end this now instead of kicking the tires and having to fire Tom mid season, which would be disastrous.

I hate to keep going back to Game 6 versus Boston, but something wasn't right man. The look on Jalen's face when he was telling Tom to take everyone out spoke a thousand words.

I 100%, believe that Jalen knew well before we lost that Tom was done. That's why he lashed out at that reporter for asking that question. That was the first time I've ever seen him lose his composure like that. He knew, and it probably hurt like hell.

This situation sucks but I think all parties involved moved forward for the greater good of the team

Donte was cussing at Tom, not Rick. He told Rick that as they were getting separated.

I don't know how much sway Rick has outside of being Jalen's Dad. I would like to know though.

Also, I would have asked Dolan to cough up top dollar to keep Bryant employed. We could have had a transition to him from Tom without all this drama.

Exactly this
I asked all year to just try Mitch and deuce in the starting lineup
With KAT and hart off the bench
If you make the argument you don’t trade for KAT to come off the bench, well okc just signed Ihart to a massive contract and he hasn’t started a game for them during the first two finals games. It’s about adjustments, and Thibs never tried anything new

Thibs would have been fired on opening night if he suggested that and rightfully so.

He definitely should have tried Deuce with the starters though.

Brunson/Deuce/Mikal/OG/KAT should have the main line up all season. Yeah the backcourt is small but Deuce plays bigger than he is and we would have 5 out spacing.

Oh well. I'm ready to move on but this feels like a huge opportunity was blown.

Thibs has an obssession having to have a tall shooting guard next to Brunson at all costs...... yet for years EVERY SINGLE DARN METRIC showed when he played Deuce instead of RJ or any other deficient shooting guard with length the metrics continuously favored that lineup.

Kidd with Bryant as AHC would not be a bad combo like at all.

Thibs and Donte had that layup exchange. Afterwards, Donte was absolutely talking to Rick because he was talking directly to the bench. Thibs was by the scorers table. And after he hits his free throw, he looks directly at Rick.

I think Bryant leaving had nothing to do with money and all to do with opportunity and Mitchell.

So true. Hard to say that Thibs was insane because he is a great basketball mind, but he fit the definition of the word to a T.

Our entire playoff run (or let's be real, most of the season), I was unsure and uncertain what this team was. Were we a good offensive team? Because some nights we'd struggle to score. Were we a good defensive team? Because many nights we'd leave three-point shooters open or miss so many defensive assignments.

So the question was, what were we? A head coach is supposed to, at least, identify the type of team he has and play to their strengths. But again, what were our strengths? And since it was so hard to figure that out, it was time for him to go.

Hindsight is 20/20. If he is indeed the next coach, I'm sure his time with Cleveland added some more depths to his thought process as a coach.

A year learning under Kenny Atkinson probably leveled him up even more.

Man. I get it. I really do. But just reading this guy's philosophy on hoops makes me think that not hiring him, with this roster, would be a mistake.

I'd take the risk. But I'm not Leon and its not my ass on the line
