Don't assume people are trolling because they like this move. A lot of us actually liked Hardaway Jr when he was here. He was a first team all rookie-selection with us and was one of the only bright spots on that miserable team. He can flat out score and does it well from 3, taking it to the basket, off the dribble, spot up, off screens, he can do it all. I think right now he is better than guys like Reddick, Crabbe, Porter and many others who just got paid more than him.

Please find one stat that supports the position he is better than Otto Porter. Just one. Cmon man. Otto was one of the best shooters in the league last year (53% from field, 40+ from distance), is a good defender, and just turned 24. Crabbe I agree. JJ is on a one year deal so getting paid more is misleading. his contract is worlds better than Hardaway's.

There truly are worse ways we could have used the money, one example will still be on the team for 3 more years in between injuries and drug suspensions

I guess that is the market for supporting shooting guards that can be a starter

You just reminded me how screwed the Blazers are with cap.
They don't even have good trade assets outside of Damien & CJ.

People need to grasp the concept of the salary cap. This isn't 2010-2014 where the Cap was set at around 57 Million, There has been huge hikes which is why the past 2 years these contracts have ballooned. Granted we did overpay but you would have to considering hes a RFA, Just look at Otto Porter and his 100 million dollar contract (does his defense really make him worth Max Money?)

2010 NBA SALARY Cap is 58 Million, If you want to convert Timmy's contract to what it would've been before the ballooning Salary Cap it would probably be a 4 Year 40 Million dollar contract

58,000,000 x 17.75% = 10.3/ Year

2017 Cap is 99 Million-100 Mill

100 Mill x 17.75% = 17.75/ year (4 years 71 million) which is what he got.

As far as him eating space, if we trade Melo for expirings, or contracts that end in 2 years like Melo we would have 25++ million in cap space in 2 years, thats assuming the cap doesn't go up which it most likely should. In the meantime we can continue the rebuild and if Timmy develops the way he has we are looking at a starting 2 that would average 16-20 ppg, with good percentages its a spot we wouldnt need to look at Free Agency to fill. I would love to tank but I think we are more talented then the nets, jazz, lakers, pacers, Magic and tbh this move doesn't make us significantly better than the other teams around us like the Mavs. This is a lateral move that would pan out but hes 29 and hopefully in 4 years Porzingis/WHG/Frank develop into the players we expect that too while also adding 2 more lottery picks in the next few years.

I'm sure Mills isn't done, we can swap out Lee for a first round pick as well as KOQ/Melo

Hardaway will make you all look foolish for doubting his competitive nature. I will relish in the glory of warning you of his future exploits on the court and in the locker room. The Basketball Gods have smiled upon us and returned our prodigal son. Let us all get ready for the wrath of Timmy

Part of me, and it was a little BFS, expected it to carry over and THJ to outplay Beal in the playoffs. He had his moments but couldn't get there.

We'll see. They won't match imo. I just see a guy who has offensive guts but not a winner. Bench role could work but that obviously ain't happening.

You seriously think THJ who I like is better than Otto Porter?

wow is all I have to say.

Offensively.

Overall Porter is better because of defense. Timmy got better at that too.

He was barbecue chicken in the playoffs. Dazed, confused, and getting rocked by his man when he was playing defense.

A lot of these hawks fans want to match the deal and see how hard THJ worked and how much he improved. He's only 25, it really isn't THAT bad

How does it help the tank? THJ is a good player, we will win some games solely because of him

  Thjr is is not good enough to get you wins.

All he'll do is make the loses more interesting.

We are going to be the worst team in the league next year, and this signing only enhances that goal.

We still need to develop players. How are we going to develop anyone without someone to run an NBA offense at even a basic level?
