If you keep those two separated it will force Payton to pass to other people other than Randle. I don’t think he’s a bad playmaker by any means, Thibs just need keep them apart. Or they really need to just trade Randle. Plus I can’t imagine Rose letting his new prized lottery pick waste away on the bench.
Hmm so you think it was a question of Elfrid being a ****head and not passing to other players as opposed to him just not having the ability? I actually don’t know myself
Absolutely, I don’t think you could average 7 assists a game without being at least decent playmaker. K-Dot found a stat that Payton passed to Randle like 19 times a game and the rest of the starters like 16 or 17 times. Him and Randle came here to stat pad and never planned on playing as a team. That’s why’d freeze RJ out at all the time. I’m gonna harp on this for the rest of time Payton is on this team. He went away from the hot hand to help his buddy get stats and I don’t think for one second that it wasn’t intentional.
Elfrid Payton is a fraud.
He intentionally froze out RJ because he knew RJ was a threat to him as a playmaker, and he couldn’t have anyone in the way of him stat-padding for his next contract. He was clearly dominating the ball and forcing passes to Randle, who may or may not have been helping his buddy too.
I’m convinced Payton couldn’t care less about the team or winning. He’s always playing for his next contract, ie for money.
You could tell there was something off about the way he interacted with the rest of the team during time-outs by the way. It’s like he was keeping some sort distance, or generally showing some level of restraint. I don’t know, maybe it’s just an impression.
