Even if the Knicks wind up getting DMitch for a 4pick/1youth/salary filler deal the media will paint it as Ainge fleecing the Knicks and to be fair, it's a pretty steep price to pay but it wouldn't be impossible to make moves down the road paying that much depending one what the pick package is.

As long as they keep some flexibility on their own picks it's a win but if it's a package that relied heavily on their own picks tying them up until the end of the decade it will be quite difficult to make moves. A star would almost have to come in free agency because a trade for one would be nearly impossible.

Ainge just needs to get the Knicks to give up that 3rd unprotected pick and accept the offer..... We are 4 weeks away from camp why delay the inevitable

yes that seems like the middle ground but the knicks are probably you get 3 unprotected or grimes...you don't get both

that is why there latest offer was obi+fournier+mcbride+2 unprotected+3 protected

I think the middle ground is Grimes or a 3rd unprotected pick...not both.

And if we are to believe the reports that Ainge is settled on picks it should be a no brainer for him and Utah.... Makes me believe what Hahn was saying more about making the Knicks pay that New york just cause

What i want to are the protected picks the Knicks 27,29 ones or are they giving up the recently acquired picks

I have to believe they are the recently acquired ones because the knicks have to position themselves for a future trade as well. And those protected picks aren't going to land anyone not worthy.
