Re: 2019-2020 College/Draft thread (Part 1)
My problem right now is if we go point guard just for the sake of it they all have some weaknesses that worry me.
Cole has some defensive issues and doesn’t seem like a true facilitator
Lamelo , his defense is lack luster and his 3pt shot doesn’t seem to be there.
Hampton is he able to be a true 1 or his he a tweener
To me edwards has the Least amount of holes and highest ceiling
I’d try and sign someone like van fleet and draft Edwards
Vanfleet / Edwards / Barrett / Knox / Mitch

This as well. The only one I’m indifferent on is RJ Hampton. I’m good with Wiseman, Cole, Edwards and LaMelo. Obviously leaning more Edwards and LaMelo
Yea im with you, although I am pretty high on RJ Hampton as well. Gonna be real hard for the Knicks to mess this up. I would love for us to find a way to get another top pick so we can get 2 of these guys. Preferrably Wiseman and Edwards
I’d give up both Mavs picks and a pick swap next year to get another top 5.
Ehh, giving up pick swap for next year could be devastating. We are going to be bad either way and pick swap would eliminate our chance of getting Cade Cunningham (6'6" guard with legit playmaking).
But I'm not against trading Mavs pick (or both picks) for players outside lottery. For now I like Isaac Okoro or Oscar Tshiebwe as targets

Whoever the majority of the Knicks fans want and looks to be the elite game changing talent the Warriors will take one spot ahead of them.......again. It's destiny.

I can’t either. Wiseman and Edwards at the very top for me then there is a gap after that. But Cole is still good. He’d be a good get for us if we got him

Guys like Edwards make me not sweat about these losses piling up. We need to get him, whatever it takes.

This is exactly where I’m at, do whatever to get Edwards and either sign VanVleet, trade for DLO or let Frank start since Edwards and RJ both are playmakers.
I wouldn’t start Knox just yet though, his defense is too shaky. I’ll be ok with bringing Morris back for another year.

Theirs a clear cut top 3.
Lamelo
Edwards
Wiseman
Cole and Hampton fill out the top 5 but we need one of the top 3.

out of curiousity how would you run this offense and who's hand would you like to see the ball in the most.
Frank set things up but mainly go through RJ and Edwards with some PnR action with Mitch. It would be a lot easier if RJ and Frank could become good shooters. Would have 4 shooters on the floor, 3 guys who can handle the ball quite a bit.

Haven't seen much of Cunningham but Jalen Green is really fun to watch if we missed out on another wing and went center or PG. Smooth as hell and effortless bounce

The McDaniels kid from Washington is going to be a PROBLEM. I know we need guard play but geez, this kid oozes potential. I know there are character and weight concerns but his floor is a better shooting Brandon Ingram. That’s an all star. Between Randle for now and even Knox in time, I’m not sure our 3/4 position is set for the future. I don’t think we overthink it, the draft gods will put us right in the Cole Anthony wheelhouse. If he’s there you take him and build around him, RJ and Mitch for the next decade. But there are a few jewels in this draft for sure.

I would not mind any of them. We need more talent period.
Anyone from Edwards, Lamelo, Cole should make us all feel better.

Yup I’ve been paying attention to him he’s going to be nice you can just see it. He’s a twig like you said though he’s going to need to fill out. He’s gonna be a nice versatile 4 man

Cole Anthony does not have defensive issues. He’s smaller, but he competes hard as hell to make up for it, does a nice job getting over screens, and makes some damn perfect rotations off ball.

I get carsen Edwards vibes from cole.
Both small explosive guards. Do not think he's in the same tier as lamelo, wiseman and edwards.

What I'm interested in with Cole is what happens when his point of attack is shut down. Does he go into distributor mode?
That was something I love about Ja, or really any PG that has those sorts of instincts.

Yep, completely different players stylistically. Not too surprised you like LaMelo and Wiseman given where you were on Cam last year. Can you explain why you like those guys so much? There is a big misconception about who / what Wiseman’s current skill level is and while LaMelo is an amazing passer, and finishing better than expected, his defense and shot selection have been atrocious so far.

He has to do a better job blending the passing + shooting. Right now, he’s either focused on one or the other. Although part is UNC’s offense, IMO.

That's the impression that I'm getting, though to be fair he's beating the piss out of everyone so early on. Doesn't seem like he's forcing. Ja had a ton more experience by the time anyone paid attention.
As you know, all is fluid at this stage of the year. Especially with little freshman bebes.
