in our defense, randle's first year made the deal look atrocious.

this year, because he's played like a completely different play, the knicks look like they got a steal in randle.

This thread was made before he even played a game as a Knick. You can't use that as an excuse.

i can.

i don't think i criticized his game until i saw him play.

even if i did, the contract, at the time, didn't make sense for where the knicks were headed.

The contract wasn't crazy at the time either. We had to spend money to hit the floor and spent it on a 24-25 year old still looking to prove himself. At worst we had an out after year 2 with not too much guaranteed in year 3.

this is what did it for me, with randle. dude put in the work, and changed his game for the better of the team/franchise; what resulted was an unlikely all-star selection, and the fourth seed in the east.

knicks have been needing a guy like randle for far too long.

Randle may have been his own harshest critic too. He admitted he was not happy with his play and put in the work. Not many players look in the mirror like that. Love that he took it personal.

that's a true testament to what a real leader can, and should be. he looked at himself and realized it wasn't working for the team. then changed himself to make the team better. that's a guy i can fully get behind and call my team leader.

the fact that he, not only got an all-star selection, but also was in the running for MVP tells you just how good a team can be when the top dog changes themselves to make the team better.

knicks need more guys like randle

it wasn't too egregious, but it didn't make much sense at the time. after year one, it looked like an idiotic move that the knicks were going to have to wait out. after this year, it looks like the greatest contract in the NBA

They had no choice at that time once Kyrie and KD chose Brooklyn. Hell we had to give Taj and Portis $10 mil just to get to around the floor. They knew there wasn't going to be a max player worth spending the money on this year so the contract was going to serve the same purpose. We have the cap god Brock Aller at the helm now.

I thought it was okay because it was a 2 year deal with an option and thought maybe Randle will eventually be traded.

Then he was awful. Terrible shooting, tried to force things, that spin move, a blackhole on offense too often.

And then I still didn't believe his start to the season. I was ready to trade him.

Now I want to see how he does in the playoffs. Will he try to force things or play like a borderline MVP?
