I WAS ACTUALLY THINKING THIS SAME EXACT THING!!!

I was thinking "why don't we have payton who is 6'3"-6'4" iso or post up Trae Young for like 3 straight possessions?". J

ust power drive past him and force the contact, something has to be called or you get an easy bucket right"

no

So you're saying Trae can stop Payton 1 on 1 3 out of 3 times?

i think that's generally the idea with payton, but teams put 8 in the box and he doesn't exactly make them pay.

Capela will just hang back and challenge at the rim. Payton doesn't pose a threat anywhere else, and Nerlens doesn't offer any spacing threat

But Taj Gibson does

The home court effect is going to be wayyy more dramatic this year because the players have been in quiet stadiums for a year now. No other team all year had a crowd as boisterous as ours, noticeable even with only 2000 present. Now we have 15000 that are ready to unleash a years worth of pent up low attendance frustration, not to mention having a playoff team for the first time in fckng forever, all at one time. It's gonna be loud as hell in there

no

Found it

Payton when guarded by Trae this year:

4 points, 2-8 shooting (0-1 from 3), 2 assists and 1 turnover in 51 possessions over 14 minutes

https://www.nba.com/stats/team/1610612752/matchups/?CF=DEF_PLAYER_NAME*E*trae&Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&Matchup=Offense

Also fun fact (just for you), last year, Elf also scored 4 points in 16 minutes of being guarded by Trae, giving him 8 points over 30 minutes in a Knicks uniform (which is 9.6 points per36). Last year alone, Frank scored 8 points in 9 minutes of being guarded by Trae, which is 32 points per36.

I would honestly start Frank since he can hit the open 3, defend Trae and has height on trae (can force the issue to draw fouls)

Lol welp thanks for killing the little hope I had

Actually it should bring hope because this proves Trae is a defensive liability which our big guards should look to over exploit 100%

Frank, Rose, Quickly, Payton, I'd even throw Luca at him. Get that mofo out of the game with foul trouble.

Super weird way to spell "Derrick Rose."

Any one of our guards can do it. Arent they all at least 6'2"-6'3"? Trae is only 5'9" get that mofo in foul trouble (make the refs make the call)

I was afraid to edit my OP as it would reset the poll, do you know if it would reset it?

I wanted to put the schedule in the OP and actual game time

I think it only resets if you mess with the poll itself.

Maligned Knicks guard Elfrid Payton still ‘confident’ despite struggles
By Marc Berman May 20, 2021 | 5:26pm | Updated

Julius Randle makes decision on whether to return to braids
Knicks starting point guard Elfrid Payton hadn’t talked to the media since he starred against the Lakers on April 12, outplaying impending free agent Dennis Schroder.

In scoring 20 points and finishing a plus-27, it marked Payton’s last stellar game. He’s now mired in a massive slump.

In the last seven games, Payton has looked lost, averaging 2.7 points and shooting 24.2 percent. His minutes per game in that span have dwindled to 14.6.

Speaking via Zoom on Thursday, Payton was asked by The Post how he’d assess his recent performances in light of Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau backing him up as a player who still brings defense and intangibles.

Payton didn’t give an inch.

“I assess how I’m playing by how my team is doing,’’ Payton said. “And we’ve been winning. So, we’re in the playoffs.”

Indeed they are, finishing off with a three-game winning streak, a 16-4 spree and 41-31 final record. Payton also needs to not give an inch to Atlanta point guard Trae Young when the first-round series commences Sunday at the Garden.

RJ Barrett gave his full endorsement to Payton.

“Great locker-room guy, everybody loves EP,” Barrett said. “He goes out there, even if he’s struggling offensively, and still plays great defense. Everybody struggles. We’re always there to pick him up, and he’s gonna pick us up. He’s picked me up when I’m struggling. He’s part of our team and we love having him.”

Payton was weaving a decent season entering the All-Star break but this final month he hasn’t responded well to Derrick Rose getting a bump in minutes while his have shrunk.

Often, Payton plays the first part of the first quarter but doesn’t play again the start of the second half. And he hasn’t been closing in a long while as he’s lost his attack-mode mentality.

When asked about his confidence level, Payton said, “I’m confident. I work on my game. I’m confident.’’

This will be Payton’s playoff debut. The 2014 lottery pick has seen dark days in Orlando, Phoenix and New Orleans. And last season, he was a starter for the 21-45 Knicks, who improved only after Payton returned from a hamstring injury that cost David Fizdale his job.

“It means a lot,” Payton said of qualifying for the playoffs. “We’ve been through a lot. We work hard, kept chipping at it, kept chipping at it. We’re finally seeing some fruits of our labor. We’re still hungry and feel we have a lot more to do.”

“Everything just keeps going up,’’ Payton said of practices this week. “Coach is doing a good job of preparing us. All of the coaches, honestly. We know what’s at stake. Every day is getting more and more intense.’

Vaccines provide immunity.

No. Vaccines make your body produce the tools it needs to fight off known variants of a disease. It doesn't make you immune, especially not to a virus that is still circulating at a high enough rate to mutate often.

His point about the mutations is valid. This why there is no cold vaccine or HIV vaccine. They mutate too quickly. If COVID mutates rapidly then we may not be protected against a new strain.

This is the huge question for vaccine developers. They are trying to find a part of the virus to make a vaccine against that cannot mutate - either because if it mutates, the virus can't survive, or because if it mutates, it would make the virus unable to attack cells. This is why the two mRNA viruses are directed against the spike protein. If it the spike changes too much, it can't infect cells.

So far, there are no variants in the wild that the vaccines cannot provide immunity against, but scientists know that with the huge numbers of infected people, this could certainly happen.
