Ah I see the troll crawled out from under his bridge on the general board when the Knicks lose a playoff series to spew his nonsense.
Don't feed into his crap.

agree, but he had a big reality check now.
I'd say it's much more likely Randle bounces back
ok, I would still try to get Herro. people are way too down on him now.
he is 21 years old and put up 37 points in a CF game just a year ago.

Maybe he was feeling his celebrity, but he knows he needs to prove it again because due to the playoffs, Knicks fans are starting to turn on him.
Plus he knows he needs to bounce back in order to get the max next season. I’d be surprised if he is not locked in the summer before a contract year.

Its absolutely ridiculous to say the team wasnt trying to tank in a year they had the worst record in the NBA.
This is just complaining for the hell of it
They didn't hire Fizdale to tank. They actually thought he was good, and were talking playoffs before the season started.
Yes they did.

Either root for the man or don’t, but don’t flip flop
I think most are in the middle ground.
You can be appreciative of his regular season he was stellar. He was also atrocious in the post season (not just bad) horrendous.
So I still expect and want to keep him around...However, I am a little more cautious about potentially giving him the bag (then two weeks ago). Fair?
I think it’s fair to be critical of moves going forward, but some takes on this board are straight delusional.
Yes a mix of Hawks defense, fans and pressure probably cause Randle to sh*t the bed in the playoffs. But it was still 5 games and it’s not like any other player played well, everyone sucked except Rose.
Problem is we don’t have extra talent and the Hawks do. Randle proved enough to be a 2nd/3rd option and he has another season to prove it again. No reason for this board to be so doom and gloom
It comes with the territory though. Its just what it is. He's going to win 2nd or 3rd team all NBA this year. With that comes expectations.
The fans are frustrated because we didn't just lose we got waxed...there will be some outrageous takes but its just the raw emotion right now. Calmer heads will previal but its less then 24 hours after the series. You just gotta expect some crazy takes.
Again Trae Young stepped his game up and made players around him better and Randle didn't. The other players are complimentary pieces/role players. The onus goes on randle. We obviously need more talent but that also doesn't just excuse him for the playoff series he just put up.
The playoffs are a different animal, Randle already had a breakout that no one expected...so I think there was always that feeling in the back of people's head is this for real? The playoffs just kinda exposed a lot of what we saw during his first year. I'm not saying he's the same player he was in his first year its just that the season we had was very much reliant on Randle dominating. I can't just brush of 5 horrible games as just like it would be if it was in January. This was the biggest of spot lights.
You get judged on your post season work.

Re: PG: Knicks-Hawks aka 1,2,3,Cancun! (Hawks win series 4-1)
Look, I am very glad we didn't tank this year. The reason our cap space meant nothing to free agents is our team's reputation is perennial loser or where mediocre vets go to ride out their last contract. You need to show a pulse to get real players to sign here. Top level FAs were falling all over themselves to sign with a mediocre but up-and-coming Brooklyn team over the Knicks because they had a respectable record and core. Those signings pushed them over the top to where they are now.
Now the Knicks have a pedigreed coach who was the toast of the league until game 3 and he installed a system that shows you don't need top level talent to win games. His disciples praise him around the league. Keep building our core, keep getting reps for the young guys, stay committed to the system, and hope that a rocking Garden this year reminds free agents what this place is like when you're winning.
I'm as pissed as anyone about the way we went out against the Hawks but the fact is they had a more talented team and came in healthy. We lacked a lot of depth in the front court and at PG. Our starting center was out. Our replacement starting center and effectively starting PG were both banged up. We had very little depth behind those guys capable of matching the skill level of Atlanta. Effort only gets you so far. Just keep attracting step-ups in talent at the holes that need upgrading and keep drafting BPA without locking into a dumb signing or getting enthralled by the new shiny object. Don't dump money into Drummond or some stupid **** like that.
This season was a great first step toward making this franchise respectable. Next step is judiciously building on that to make it a winner.

Dont get me wrong..would have loved a top 5 pick. But it just wasnt happening this season
The knicks just made horrible draft picks these past drafts.
2018 NBA draft Knicks pick Kevin Knox and could of had... Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Mikal Bridges, Mikal Bridges, Michael Porter Jr.
2017 NBA draft Knicks pick Frank Ntilikina and could of had....Donovan Mitchell, Bam Adebayo, Kyle Kuzma, Malik Monk.
We have to make better draft picks.
Yea, that has def been a big issue. Every team has misses but we have been in that 8, 9 range so many times and fail to even come away with a starter.

Has an undervalued guy ever played well on the Knicks? Randle went back to being big Elf. Burks is so so so bad. Bullock had his moments this year but overall bad.

Man, that chit hurt so bad yesterday and these last few games. Watching the same unit that had been so cohesive and collected suddenly become desperate, unorganized and flailing. Makes you wish there was some way to make you un-care.

Well if we aren't guaranteed a top 5 pick they will complain. We have been in the lottery five times and only in the top five twice. And we had to trade one of our top 5 picks.Sark wrote:GONYK wrote:Why do people act like tanking is foolproof?
That is the major flaw in their argument. It carries its own risks that people just want to gloss over.
No, the major flaw is that people think tanking means we have to go 0-82 for 5 straight years.
Our lottery strategy yielded a starting five of:
C -- KP
PF -- Obi
SF -- Kevin Knox
SG -- RJB
PG -- Frank

Re: PG: Knicks-Hawks aka 1,2,3,Cancun! (Hawks win series 4-1)
like Bullock was horrible all series but he can be replaced so people don't put too much effort into dissecting his game or his future here. He is a replaceable player.
RJ wasn't good but he is also 20 and on a rookie contract...so as far as the future goes you don't have to make an immediate decision on him.
Noel was gimpy all series and was bad. Taj is a old man and gave as much as he could. Outside of game 1 Burks was horrible. You got some flashed from the two rookies.
Rose was the only one that was consistently good all series and his body broke down because he just can't handle that many minutes.
So the majority of the attention is going to go on Randle. Just the way it works when you are the best player. I think he understands that. I think he will work his ass off in the offseason as he proved throughout his career...the only question now is his ceiling as a player and how that translates through the post season and what type of player can compliment or raise his level of play.
The knicks were also going to sell him as a major building block to a another star via trade/FA. I'm not saying that is totally out of the realm of possibilities now but you can't sit here with a straight face and tell me you think our standing throughout the league, in terms of stars, would be the same if we would have either won or just had a more competitive series with Randle playing better.

Past drafts have zero impact on future results. The Bulls drafted bums for years. Then they drafted Michael Jordan.

Might be the opposite. Helps them rationalize the losing. This is why they say all the years we were in the lottery were because we sucked not tanked. Because we didn't end up with anything good so we couldn't have been tanking.makeitstop wrote:Gravy wrote:Iron Mantis wrote:I don't want to be at Silver's mercy for the "lotto".
Lottery hasn't done the Knicks any favors when they've found themselves among the league's worst records.
Knicks should've had Zion or Morant. The Knicks have never moved up in the draft since the new lottery, but have always been leapfrogged, or stay the same when they're stuck with 8 and beyond.
They way the lottery is structured now, the Knicks will have to either be incredibly fortunate, or bottom-feed for 10 years or better until the league finally doesn't shaft the Knicks in the draft.
I agree that the Knicks just need to install a winning culture and draft better with where they're positioned and develop the talent.
There's no star that would satisfy everyone either.
If we had Zion people would say he's fat, lazy defender that cant stay healthy. Ja Morant cant shoot 3s and you dont want your best player to be the pg or whatever reason for more tanking. Its a gambling addiction that never ends.
I think a big part of the attraction to tanking is it gives people license to complain about the team every game - and you know we love to do that here. Hell, this board still complained when the Knicks were winning.

There would be the Knicks fan rule. You can't make transactions the day after a game.moocow007 wrote:KnicksGod wrote:I think you have to take the playoffs to heart and seriously and maybe not even do the contract. Sign and trade him if someone wants him who is capped out.
Anyone can be traded for sure...in the right deal. But you cannot be trading someone cause "you hate his guts" or cause "he puked all over the playoffs". That's really the difference here. Honestly, most NBA team front offices would probably LOVE it if Knick fans were allowed to run the Knicks.
