Maybe Melo is having writer's block trying to pen his article for the Player's Tribune?

That's what taints Melo for me. Dude used Brooklyn against us to get his money. Aight. So I really don't care that we're shipping him out now. We gave up mad **** even if they didn't turn out to be stars.

If we aren't tanking, would you still trade Melo? Seems to me the non tank route would have been keep Melo and sign Rondo (which frankly they should have done last season instead of trade for Rose and sign Noah - but hindsight is 20/20) or otherwise bring in a vet pg.

I suppose that the relationship could have worn to the point where we just have to move on for the best of both sides even with PJ gone and might as well get at least something for Melo before he opts out and leaves next year to team up with LeBron and/or Paul wherever they are.

Bledsoe I'm cool with. Not so much Knight. For those hoping for Ullis, my guess is PHX wants him to be their future PG and they probably feel that they have a good situation with Bledsoe holding it down for a year or 2 more while Ullis develops. Knight on the other hand is more of a spare part to them. What is PHX supposedly getting anyway that interests them?

Haha - sorry no update. Last I heard BKN was still involved in a 4 team as a landing spot for an unwanted contract. I'll post any updates if I get em.

I guess the upside is that we would not have won anything either way so in the end it didn't hurt too much. Would we be in a better place? Probably, but no KP or Frank - so maybe not. But who knows, just trying to be positive about it. It definitely is a bad look for Melo though, granted, he didn't make the trade so can't really blame him for what we gave up. Dolan/Walsh could have called his BK bluff and not caved to DEN's demands. Crazy that an aging guy who has really won nothing in the NBA has been able to have so much power and influence - yet still not enough to get anyone to play with him.

Nah - no Bledsoe and DEFINITELY no Knight. Where did these rumors come from? I actually like Bledsoe running point for our squad if we arent poised to draft a top 5 SF in next years draft. But we are... so... please, Mills.. Just trust the process :)

Let Bledsoe play his 40 or so games the Knicks go 20-20 in those games...end up with a record of 25-57...still good for a top 5 pick.

I just think we are posed now to get this lotto pick so tanking for 1 more year should really kind of be important to the organization.. I say we try and land 1 more piece and next year we begin to really try and build a winning culture. It doesn't have to be now. Watching these guys develop as a young squad is interesting enough for me to make the smart play here and go for a top 5 lotto pick in this upcoming draft.

That's not a bad thing. We're a laughing stock. Yes I know it would be nice to have a shiny new car at the draft next year but we need to just get this air of stink that has followed the Knicks around since 2000 off of us. If you make the Knicks attractive then free agents/players will want to come. I don't believe that NY isn't an attractive place to play for a second we just haven't been in a position to bring anyone major in to a successful team in almost a decade. And we still have all of our firsts in addition to whatever we get in the Melo deal. Do your scouting and keep bringing talent in and we'll be fine.

If we get Bledsoe and he stays even somewhat healthy then we'll be a playoff team in the east and might even get a 6th spot depending on how quickly the team of a lot of new players could come together.

OK. Been playing around on the trade machine and came up with this:

Houston Receives: C/F Kyle O'Quinn and F Carmelo Anthony

Phoenix Receives: C/F Spencer Hawes and PF Ryan Anderson

Milwaukee Receives: C Tyson Chandler

New York Receives: F Trevor Ariza, F Jared Dudley, PG Matthew Dellavadova, MIL 2018 1st Round Pick (Top 10 Protected) and HOU 2020 1st Round Pick

- We can then immediately flip Ariza to a contender. We take on Delly's contract because we get a draft pick with it and he's the type of player who will know his role when it's time for him to go to the bench when Frank is ready. Also, Dudley comes and plays a key role as a mentor on this team after having played in this system under Hornacek in Phoenix previously.

I feeeeeeeeeel you dawg... but... cant you wait one more year? We have the center and the PF, we just got the back court ... We just need a SF. Id like our lowest draft pick in the last 10 years to be on that SF so we can be deadly - not a 6th seed. You really dont think winning should become a priority next year?

I agree man. However, in regards to the "what could have been." Stop it. Melo was not a great starting piece. He was a good one but so various other teams had better #1s. Better starting pieces during Melos career include:

Kobe
Duncan
KG
LeBron
Dirk
Wade
CP3
Pierce
Kidd
TMac
Vince
Nash
Durant
George
Pau
Prime Rose
Westbrook
Prime Dwight
Prime Roy

There's more that I could list but these are some of the no-brainers. Keep in mind, I'm not saying that they had better careers than Melo or were better than Melo every single year. Some are younger. At some point though, all of these guys were just better. If you're going to have a "what could of been" moment, at least acknowledge that the odds of Melo ever being a champion were slim.
