I knew was taking Quentin Post higher than he would probably be drafted but 43% from 3pt & 1.7 blocks… It’s a copy cat league & the way that the Celtics & Thunder play with 5 out spacing, makes Post a good guy to bet on.

Re: Build a Franchise (Season 8) Discussion Thread
ANNOUNCEMENT
Congratulations to all teams who were involved with the 2024 draft. Your scouting eye successfully hit on 57 of the 58 players drafted into the real NBA. It was a very interesting draft with movement up and down the board, teams trading for the #1 overall pick, into and out of the lottery, late picks were valued as teams were trading into the second round and teams were trading players draft rights soon after picking them...it almost looked like there were 30 Leon Rose's playing BaF!
I'd also like to congratulate everyone and thank teams for properly executing so many trades to start our offseason. With all of the huge moves that were made with some of the best players in the league trading places, there was not one single trade that violated the salary cap that needed to be sent back to the teams to rework. Outside of a couple of minor Stepien issues, all trades were successfully executed. Nearly every team in the league has been active to start off the 2024-25 league year, season eight of Build a Franchise! We have certainly come a long way in the time this league has been going.
Now that the draft is in our rear view mirror, we can begin planning for the next stage of the offseason. There will be a roster freeze beginning tomorrow at 6PM. That will be the deadline to execute any moves prior to free agency. Starting tomorrow night, I will begin calculating the free agent desirability list. Rosters will be locked tomorrow at 6PM.
I am looking to begin free agency sometime in the third week of July, hopefully on Wednesday, July 17th. I have a few days off consecutively that week and that maybe the best opportunity to get FA up and running. As soon as I can confirm that date will work for my schedule I will put it in the upcoming schedule section of the first post of our main stickied thread. But for now, if you plan on being active in FA, look for 7/17 to be the date I am leaning towards.
Finally, now is the time to submit any rule change suggestions. If you have any suggestions to make the game better, submit your rule changes to me by Sunday at midnight so we can discuss and put something out for the league to vote on. I would like to get rules changes out by the middle of next week, since it is a holiday week so voting can be finished well before FA begins.
As always, feel free to ask any questions.

Re: Build a Franchise (Season 8) Discussion Thread
Thanks Bish! Monster work as usual. 57 out of 58 is unreal. Something that also struck me is how close to the mocks the top of this draft fell both in BAF and IRL for a draft with supposedly such little franchise talent at the top. I figured we would see some big surprises but there really weren't many. Carrington was probably the biggest deviation.
Proposal: Add a "two-way" slot by adding another roster spot and adding to the IR requirement.
Let's discuss this one a bit here before I send as I think this is along the lines of what a lot of managers want.

All submitted trades were legal? Wow, that’s quite impressive. Just shows that veteran GM’s have become more savvy with the years of experience. And the newer GM’s have adapted quickly.

Re: Build a Franchise (Season 8) Discussion Thread- Announcement on page 49
I sent in a proposal as well and it might kinda go hand and hand with Cap’s but here’s mine
Proposal:
Draft picks, rights, non exempt
Teams should be able to keep the rights to draft picks 1st and 2nd regardless of roster space if player goes un-drafted in real life or is drafted and stashed in real life, these players would not count on the exempt roster.
Players could go into a new section called draft rights, and these contracts would not count against the team until they are signed to a real life NBA roster, salary can still be listed so teams trading for the rights to these players know the salary that would come into effect if player were to be signed to an NBA roster.
Lastly 2nd round picks should be non guaranteed and be able to cut up until the trade deadline or set deadline in season. I believe that would help not penalize teams for multiple draft picks in the 2nd round, that may have to eat that salary if player doesn’t become an NBA player or if they need roster spots, that would allow them to cut non guaranteed salaries to do so.
These changes kind of overlap and I’m not even sure how they would affect the sim, I’m open to adjustments by you and the rest of the GMs

I think it's like this:
I draft Player A
Player A does not get drafted/signed
Player A goes to a new list called Draft Rights - this does not count against the cap like exempt players do.
You can then bring Player A up if/when they do get signed
I'm not as in to this one. I think, the combo of creating a new roster slot and then make 2nd rounders non-guaranteed ups the value of 2nds substantially.
