If reaching the finals couldn’t motivate Luka to come back this year in better shape and play defense I don’t think anything else can. He has that diva mindset where he can do whatever he wants and nobody can tell him anything.

I think it’s true about Bron not knowing. Pretty much every plugged in reporter is saying the same things (shams, Marc stein, Dave McMenamin, Ramona shelbirne). This trade pretty much destroyed all of the lakers defense. Bron isn’t going to be too happy.

this feels like protecting bron more than anything - but i'm in tinfoil hat stage. maybe this is the end of bron in LA. I just have a hard time believing that cause why would they trade him. he is strong for the brand. and i fail to see what GS could give them to make them better.

Ramona was on espn just now and said the lakers made this trade for the future. And then she brought up how golden state was trying to trade for Bron last year and it’s something we should think about now.

i get that - luka is 25. but this move does take the burden off bron right now. he has someone who can take over. they definitely need help on the defensive end. but who the hell are they going to get from GS for bron? plus, just from a business standpoint moving bron is crazy. he is still the biggest draw in the game.

this is the rare occasion where punching down is morally acceptable. ignore the fortunes of others and focus on the misfortune of the mavs.

Hard to do that when we just got embarrassed schematically and physically by a team who just traded for a 25year old hof for peanuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have no reason to laugh at them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have just as bad a future as they do possibly even worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have no picks until 2032 at lest they have 3 or four with arguably better players than we do(AD Is arguably better than Brunson and Kat)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely nothing to laugh about here guany!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

luka has never been coachable.

he kinda does whatever he wants in isolation all the time.

and then on defense he is worse than prime harden at just missing/forgetting basic assignments.

then the rumors of him being an alcoholic in the offseason. and his weight.

it was probably all true.

Golden state has some youth that they can give up. Kuminga, podz, Trayce Jackson, etc. with the lakers going in a younger direction the golden state have the assets for a deal now.

I don’t think Bron and Luka will work that well either. Both are super ball dominant. But we’ll see.

Funny how Stephen a smith is on ESPN right now saying is Bron going to put up with Luka’s conditioning or will he ask out. He said Bron is a major question mark.

dont forget that the mavs JUST WENT to the finals last year.

granted, luka was playing hurt,

but they got handily ripped in half by a prime Boston (who has regressed significantly this year). but they saw first hand the holes on their team.

legitimately I thought their response would be "the corner3 hunting/lob hunting didnt work against a switching defense we need a 5 that can be a threat to take them out of switching"

that sht is spicy so of course the networks are going to talk about fit and all that. its entertaining. but i can buy into the lakers being cutthroat seeing a young top 5 player available and making the move without consulting bron. business is business. i'm just skeptical of it. they seem to have a really strong relationship with bron. and i tend to believe they're willing to fall on this sword to protect bron.

and not one of those youths you mentioned are a key piece in trading for bron. especially with Kuminga's deal coming up. he wants a max and isn't worth it.

Who was the Mavs fan that always came over here to try and rationalize letting Brunson go?

we joked about luka catching a case or some suspect sht - but i tend to think this might be the reason why the mavs were willing to move on from him and "dump" them on the lakers.

For the sake of accuracy, this would absolutely be a reason to "move on", but absolutely not a reason to "dump".

We cannot let the Mavs off the hook by aggregating the two.

Bron has a no trade clause. Golden state is the only team he would want to get traded to. They’re going to have to settle for Kuminga if Bron asks out to go there.

I don’t blame the lakers for not involving Bron. I would’ve done the same thing too. They already won a chip with AD and Bron, so it’s time to think for the future.

maybe they valued "ruining" the lakers more than collecting assets? idk, i'm trying to understand why they wouldn't even entertain other teams offers. from a business standpoint why wouldn't they see what they could get. i mean did they really value AD that much? that seems ludicrous. and then how they talked about luka made it seem like they thought very poorly of him.
