The Boston Celtics’ clean bill of health lasted less than a half.

Big man Kristaps Porzingis exited Game 1 of the Celtics’ second-round playoff series against the New York Knicks on Monday with 7:34 remaining in the second quarter and did not return.

even when KAT is not super effective he also has to be guarded at all times opening up a lot for Brunson and others in the paint. That alone holds value. Kinda show why our metrics are much higher with him on the floor than off. We are a NET 43 pts better with KAT on the floor than off. The only other player in the playoffs higher than that is Josh Hart who has been amazing NET 73 pts.

Man...I'm just gonna say it:

Karl is zesty af, we all know that and there's nothing wrong with that. Especially since in that pic he was clearly trying to avoid another BS foul called against him. If Karl has to scream "OMG!!!" and flail away from Tatum to avoid these refs controlling the game I don't give a f*ck. All I care about is him staying on the floor.

I like that Karl is Karl and doesn't try to be anything else but Karl. And he's not soft at all. Zesty doesn't mean soft. Need i remind folks that Karl was the only dude on the team willing to put his hands on someone in that Pistons series and yet dudes here slander him after every game.

It's really ass. Almost like certain folks root for him to fail. I thought the goal was to win but I guess not.

I think it's not outrageous to think that we can win after last night, but I agree with Thibs: take it game by game.

-we still need to do a better job of moving the ball.

-3 point defense can still be cleaned up. White had about 2 uncontested looks that he usually makes. We need to blanket him, Brown, Horford, Pritchard etc.

-Mitch has to at least shoot 50% from the line if he's gonna get fouled. Karl has to stay on the floor.

-Deuce has to continue to play like he did last night

Objective 1 was accomplished by stealing home court. Games 3 and 4 will be critical if we have any hopes of taking this.

KAT has his flaws for sure, but he helps space the floor and what is also key is that he doesn't hold the ball that long and generally makes quick decisions. Doesn't chew up a lot of clock and touches as much as others, especially for the production.

He was clearly bothered by foul trouble and the one way street was ridiculous. The positive I am taking from that Detroit series is the physicality this team faced. We look ready to dish it out right now and we always have to play through it.

Whatever though, we won. That’s what’s important.

i don't think anybody here is saying kat had a good game. he's had 2 subpar outings in a row now though, so hopefully he's due for at least the mean

It does feel like he’s become the favorite son on here where his lapses are excused away. Even over Jalen which is crazy. It’s Jalens fault when he’s passive on offense, it’s Thibs fault when he’s bad on defense. It’s similar to how people treated RJ. Maybe everybody just hates Melo. lol

If we lost he was a contributor to the loss. But we won and he contributed to the win. I think you’re the one holding him to a higher standard than is fair.

Great majority of the time if you are able to get someone it’s because they have flaws. KAT wasn’t traded bc he lived up to everything in Minny. KD would be available bc he’s not impacting winning.

We even got Carmelo only bc he wasn’t winning any titles in Denver. Jalen is a rare situation where a guy took a leap after signing. It is a little like how we got Allan Houston.

KAT is similar to LJ’s trajectory. So there you have it — another nice set of analogies by KG.

In the first half he looked like he couldn’t do anything. He had to get pulled (rightfully so) because of this and the hack a Mitch.

We will need to be strategic with how we use him with his clear faults and apparent drop in athleticism, but he can still be very useful in the right situations

I was mean to Mitch in the GT.

I called him Assquatch

He's been pretty awful

I hope he turns the corner during this series

Future Knick needs:

Some guy 6'7 or taller who can play defense and hit some 3's to give the Knicks a different look than Hart. Could be starter, could be bench
A center who plays like Mitch used to on defense, can hit a 10 foot jumper or jump hook.
A backup PG who can play PG.

These might come from internal development, but they might need to get a stop gap vet or two until then or if that doesn't happen

You should be able to get at least one of those from Kolek. No idea what Dadiet or Huk can become. Too little evidence though each shows some promise.
