Here is a creative trade example:

Indiana receives Curry, JR, Azu, and AR
Indiana sends TJ, Posey, Stephenson, and a First.

Why Indiana? They dump Posey's additional year and get AR. The cost is their pick and additional salary (but all expiring).

Clippers receive Mason and Walker plus 3 million.

Why? They get a young player for free and some cash.

Denver receives TJ, TD, Fields, '11 and '14 pick.
Denver sends Melo and JR.

Why? They get two young players in TD and Fields plus two picks. The huge plus is they go under the tax threshold saving 26 million dollars.

NY sends TD, Fields, '14 pick, Azu, Curry, Mason, and Walker.
NY receives Melo, Stephenson, and Posey.

Why? Posey's contract expires 2012. So not a big deal. We get Melo with relatively low cost.

i'm sure that is what they're saying. the nets are offering tons of picks so i'm sure they'd prefer that. but as broussard just said on sports center melo doesn't want to go into a losing situation. so it continues to be a waiting game.

The game tonight against the the Heat tonight shows why a second take over type player is needed. Ama're has a rare bad night, for him, against a team like the Heat and even with decent games from the supporting cast it's not enough against teams who have 2 and at times 3 stars.

this team needs melo, as if we needed more proof

sure the production of fields, chandler, etc is good enough to beat medicore team, but this is a stars league, you need 2 alpha dogs to lead the team

Gallo and Chandler outproduced anything Melo would have put up tonight.

Dude needs to man-up and join our rising club a FA agent. If he just wants the money, then he's the slacker I think he is - and he belong in Jersey.

Whether you like him or not, Lebron man-ed up and played out his option. And Lebron exists in a league far above Melo.
