He did really well in the 7 games he appeared for us last season.

He averaged 11-11 and had that 17 pts 18 rbs game against Boston.

What's the deal? I hope we don't sign Jerome Jordan over him. :o

I dont know. But if we dont do a 2 for 1 or if 1 of our rooks dont go overseas(JJ3) for a season we wont have a roster spot for him.

i liked earl and wish we did too, but he's not an improvement of our front court. i don't see him coming back unless there are injuries and mozgov is a bust.

Earl Barron is a mystery. Instead of signing him for the remainder of the season, Walsh offered him a two year contract (with the second season guaranteed after the summer) and he declined because he thought he could get more than the vet minimum and he though he could get a longer contract.

Free agency started one month ago and he's still unsigned. No team offered him a contract ? Even at the vet minimum ? You have to wonder what's happening with Barron.

Once we got Timofey and Jerome Jordan, he was a$$ed out!

Plus, he's more of a PF than a Center. He'd be good to have but not a must have.

So, he was offered a fair contract and declined. Good luck to him, we have moved on with hopefully better players.

Walsh offered him a two-year contract in april (remainder of the season + 2010-2011) but Barron declined. Sheridan talked about that a couple of months ago.

The Knicks signed Barron to a 10-day contract April 2, and a contract for the remainder of the season on April 12. At the time, I asked Walsh why he hadn't signed Barron to a make-good contract for the 2010-11 season (similar to what the Bulls had done with Rob Kurz, and the Celtics with Tony Gaffney and Oliver Lafayette).

Walsh said he would have liked to, but only at the veteran's minimum. Barron declined, his advisors believing he might be able to do better on the open market.

ita pretty surprising since he played so very well and has played at least good enough to get picked up by Miami once before

he clearly can play at this level. Im sure he overachieved for us but he did dominate against the Celts in an important game and deserves some attention for it

However he didnt play in the summer league either and you'd think he would unless he had a contract somewhere. I wonder if hes got some strange injury or something

Since we have the roster spot and he played well, it's not too much of a stretch to think that he has an offer on the table and that he's simply waiting to see if he gets a better offer or if the Knicks will give more.

I don't see his time with the Knicks as necessarily over yet.

Barron is a 29 year old 3rd string power forward/center that turned down a contract, got a late season opportunity to showcase himself on a bad team, did well, did not play in SL, has no reported injuries, and is unsigned.

Sounds to me like Earl Barron might be feeling himself to much. Sounds like he is taking his 7 games and 12-11 averages to the bank. Or trying. Cant really blame him to much if thats the case. But I just dont see him getting more than 1 year at the minimum or getting the minutes and role this season to earn anything more than that in the future.

But he could end up with a Matt Barnes type of longevity. Those clowns can't.

Its similar to Louis Amundson. I wouldn't be opposed to having him on the team but we don't really need him at this point.
