Fredette Intrigued By Knicks' Style Of Play

Jimmer Fredette, the BYU 6-foot-1 sharpshooting point guard, told The Post at yesterday's pre-draft camp here he has agreed to work out for the Knicks in Westchester on June 2.

"It's a team that's definitely intriguing especially with their style of play," Fredette said yesterday. "Being able to get up and down the court, that's what we did at BYU. That's how I feel comfortable playing. Obviously, being from New York and liking the Knicks growing up, we'll see."

Can Fredette fall to 17 or would the Knicks have to trade up a few notches? Because of Fredette's alleged defensive shortcomings and questions on whether he is a floor general, Fredette could slip despite his blistering 28.9 scoring average.

"My expectations are trying to be able to get into the right fit for me," Fredette said. "I don't necessary care how high I get picked. I just want to get picked in the right situation. That's the longevity of your career. If you get picked in the right spot, you have a great system you flourish in, the next contract is what you worry about. You just have to get in the right situation, show you can play well and go from there."

I wouldn't be surprised if a Team like Philly or the Warriors try to screw us like they have in the past.

Thank goodness NJ isn't picking ahead of us again (but King has said that he wants to Trade Up ). Just like I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally wanted Westbrook, Holiday, and Curry in those Draft Years. I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally want Jimmy.

I really hope this is one of the only article that comes out linking Fredette to NY (fat chance). The last thing we need is to tip our hand again by flirting openly through media leaks like we've done so often in the past.

He is going to be a poor man's Stephen Curry, we know about his defensive woes. But with STAT and Melo he will get a lot of open looks and he is probably the purests shooter in the draft. He can probably be the JJ Barea role and just be an immediate scorer off the bench.

If he kills it in workouts and displays better than expected quickness, athletcism and the ability to run a team than some team above us will draft him to be their PG of the future. but if he cannot play point then why would you want to waste a decent pick on a back-up 2-guard?

Here's the problem with Jimmer. If he kills it in workouts and displays better than expected quickness, athletcism and the ability to run a team than some team above us will draft him to be their PG of the future. but if he cannot play point then why would you want to waste a decent pick on a back-up 2-guard?

If that's the case we better trade up for him. Get your guy. Stop sitting back. Make some moves. I'm sick of every draft being us making our pick and doing squat. Buying the Laker pick is the only "move" Donnie has done during the draft.

I feel we need a starter in this draft, or a 7-8th man who can contribute this year. I like Jimmer, being he's the "sexy" pick, but he doesn't fill a need. We need a PG of the future who is a pass-first PG, a two-way SG, and C's who are defense first, but can score around the hoop.

yeah I thought about that too. but then what if some other team(above us or below us) likes Jimmer and tries to move up to get him? they could easily outbid us because we gave up every single asset we had in that Carmelo deal.

Maybe we could buy a late first round pick for 3 million and then send both 1st picks plus an additional 3 million dollars to move up.

Yeah, Utah at #12 or Indiana at # 15 will probably draft him.

We'll probably have to trade up to the # 10-11 pick to get Fredette.

People were saying the same sh*t leading up to the Drafts in past Years and in their Rookie Seasons for Westbrook and Curry.

Both of those guys proved you haters wrong.

Just cause a guy isn't dropping nearly 10 APG in College and is scoring nearly 30 PPG, doesn't mean he can't be a good PG.

Like I said above, one of the reasons I want Jimmy so bad is I seem him as a PERFECT fit to develop in this System. He sooooooooooooo reminds me of Nash-lite.

I dont know much about him because I dont watch a lot of collage basketball. But it seems the last few drafts we have had our eyes on someone that ended up getting picked a pick or two before we got our shot. So either dont waste time scouting kids we cant get, or do what you got to do to get him. You know what I mean?

i feel like the fact that utah got bumped up to 2 really helps us. they would have DEF taken him at 12. no question.
