I was writing this when the last topic was locked...so dammit imma say it!

Even if Shumpert didnt improve his jumper, and I was coach..i'd still play him

With a lineup that features Melo, Billups, and STAT it wouldnt hurt to have that guy in the game strictly for defensive purposes...he'd be put to guard the Kobes, Wades, Ellis', because God knows Billups couldnt keep up with those guys

Almost every good team has "that guy", thats in the game for defense alone....

Bogans, Stevenson, Thabo, TAllen, Artest, etc
And sure they all could knock down the open shot, but i dont think Shumperts shot is bad enough to the point that he cant knock down the open shot when found on a double-team

Shumpert only scored .1 less then westbrook in both lane agility and full court sprint. His no step vert =s Westbrooks MAX vert. And is stronger.

Shumpert is quicker/stronger then T will and his no step vert also ='s that of T will.

Dude is a freak of nature. He can always learn how to shoot. I think id rather have SHumpert then Brooks.

I have a bad feeling our pick will be completely D'Antoni's.

I'll say this: learning from past drafts, I will take the wait and see approach to whoever we pick...

Yes that is the role I envision for Shumpert. If we take him it should be as a defensive SG, not as a PG. Ive seen enough of him as a PG to know hes not one. Have him work on that jumper day and night. Get that corner three Bruce Bowen ish down. Then hed be EXACTLY what we need at SG, but again everything depends on his jumper.

Hey guys,

I've been working on a 60 player, Knicks specific draft board over the past few days (I've had the week off between jobs). I'm going to post it here, in segments. Along with player ranking, I've included a short description about what I like and don't like about each player. Any feedback would be sweet.

1. Derrick Williams, PF, Arizona: Elite college scorer. Very, very good rebounder. He can defend
any position from the 3 to 5. Future all-star.

2. Kyrie Irving, PG, Duke: By far the best PG in the country last year. He has limited college experience, but he was fantastic before he got injured.

3. Brandon Knight, PG, Kentucky: He’s the next star pg from a growing lineage of elite Kentucky point guards. He didn’t always show great PG skill this past season, but he really turned it on late.

4. Enes Kanter, C, Turkey: Pretty much a complete unknown. He’s getting drafted purely off of one all-star game and his performance in Chicago. He looks a little awkward when he plays, but he has a ton of tools, physically and skill-wise to become a productive NBA center.

5. Jimmer Fredette, PG, BYU: Risky pick with gigantic upside. Elite scoring PG who can score from anywhere on the court. His ability to pass is an unknown and he didn’t show interest in playing defense in college. But, he’s got one undeniable skill and the upside to become a fantastic PG in the right system. He doesn’t even have a very low downside, as worst case scenario, he’s a very rich man’s Eddie House.

6. Bismack Biyombo, C, Congo: He’s got all the physical tools you can want in an NBA center. He’s got a ridiculous wingspan, great weight for the position and he can jump. He has already shown excellent defensive skills in a league that is far superior to NCAA basketball. I think he’ll be a great shot blocker right away in the NBA. Outside of shot blocking, he doesn’t have a ton else. Right now, I think he’s a slightly overrated rebounder. I’d compare his current rebounding skill to someone like Matthew Bryan-Amaning, which isn’t bad (that’s all MBA can really do), but isn’t elite. Offensively, Biyombo is somewhat underrated (he’s not anywhere as bad as the Treviso video), but he’s still a mess. Biyombo is a very cerebral player with enormous upside. Biyombo is an ideal fit for the Knicks system.

7. Tristan Thompson, PF, Texas: He’s just a little shorter and lighter than ideal for a center. If he had a slightly bigger physique, he’d be my #3 ranked player. A one and done player for Texas, Thompson is a rebounding beast. In my opinion, he was a close 2nd as best rebounder in the nation. I think Thompson’s upside is way better then Faried’s though.

8. Alec Burks, SG, Colorado: In my opinion, the best scoring SG in the nation. He’s absolutely terrifying off the dribble. He was an incredible scorer for Colorado, which is more impressive because Colorado’s coaching staff sucks. His 3 point shooting sucked in college, but he’s got great form. My biggest worry about Burks is that he seemed to have a low basketball IQ in college.

9. Kemba Walker, PG, UConn: Kemba had a ridiculously good junior year at UConn. He’s a proven winner. Offensively, Walker carried UConn to the national championship, despite the fact he played out of control at times. He can put up points in bunches, but his real skill is distributing the ball. I really like Kemba as a true PG in the NBA. My biggest worry is that he’s pretty small for an NBA PG and he forces some shots.

10. Jonas Valanciunas, C, Lithuinia: Valanciunas is a player I know very little about. He seems to play very efficiently, he has very good size and plays the pick and roll very well. He has contract issues.

11-20 coming shortly...

If we somehow get either Jimmer, Walker, Bismack, Burks, or Klay without giving up anyone I'd be ecstatic.

Shumpert or Markieff would still be solid picks.

Anyone else, and I'd be disappointed.
