Baron Davis and Gilbert Arenas could both end up with NY?
Stein on Arenas / Baron
http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... -wish-list
"The Knicks, sources say, prefer Baron Davis to Arenas and are trying to convince BD to sign with them in the next 48 hours. But the most interesting scenario I've heard all weekend is the idea that both Davis and Arenas could wind up in New York. One source close to the situation, in fact, says that the two Angelenos have discussed this concept. Would the Knicks dare bring them both in? Seems unlikely with Mike Bibby already in New York, but you can make the argument that -- given the bargain prices involved -- Davis plus Arenas is at worst an intriguing option in the Knicks' quest to develop a guard rotation on a par with the frontcourt power trio of Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler"
We all know we'd love a healthy Baron Davis running the point as our starter, but why not also add Gilbert Arenas as another talent coming off the bench? This guy isn't done at the age of only 29. He's a career 21.2 points, 5.4 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game type of talent. Last year, before getting traded to Orlando, Arenas also averaged 17.3 points, 5.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game with Washington.
He also averaged 22.6 points and 7.2 assists per game during only 2009-2010 on an awful Wizards team. Just imagine what a healthy, focused and motivated Arenas could do being surrounded by Baron, Melo, Amare and Chandler etc, etc. This is the perfect definition of a potentially low risk/high reward type of situation.
Baron
Fields
TD23
Arenas
Shumpert
Bibby
Alot of teams wouldn't be able to compete with that backcourt. Also, if Shumpert continues to improve, we'll see him climb the depth charts over guys such as Arenas, TD23 and Fields. But he'll first have to earn it. Competition can brings out excellent effort.
PG: Arenas
2G: TD23/Shumpert
SF: Fields
PF: Harrellson
C: JJ/Jordan.
Guys, that's not a bad 2nd unit.

His stats are meaningless, since he's not even close to that player anymore. Plus he's a major headcase. I'd rather Bibby get those minutes.

My thoughts exactly. He's also 3-4 years younger than Bibby and a whole lot better when healthy when compared to Bibby.

I would just bring them both in. Going to be a hectic schedule and having two guys who know the league at your disposal can only be a good thing. The gun incident was an aberration as far as Arenas' character is concerned. We gave Spree a second shot... so giving Arenas one wouldn't bother me. Guys might go down with injury and both of these guys could be gone if that were to happen further along. You can always just cut Gil if it doesn't work out.

Other Arenas vs Bibby stats to consider:
Number of guns brought to a locker room: Arenas: 1 Bibby: 0
Number of gun posession charges: Arenas 1 Bibby: 0
Number of teammates' shoes sh*t in: Arenas: 2 Bibby: 0
Bibby by a mile.

Re: Baron Davis and Gilbert Arenas could both end up with NY
if davis comes here...im pretty sure bibby would accept the role of being the 5th guard on this team behind davis, fields, shump, td...not sure arenas would be so willing.
as long as we get davis, dont need arenas...after davis, we should focus on signing another big like evans, powe, or even sean williams who now seems ready to sign with a team.
unfortunately, there arent anymore pfs out there who can hit the 3 and play defense like shawne williams could have for us...but evans would be a decent add so we can have another rebounder on the team.

Are you implying Arenas plays defense?

You have to take into account how long it's going to take Davis to get back from injury and you don't have to dress all of them.
