What should the Knicks do with Jeremy Lin?

For those that have an agenda besides Lin as a basketball player, or want to see him waived, please start your own thread. I would like to discuss specifically what should happen if the Knicks keep him. My thoughts are this:

1) Since his contract has no effect on salary cap and there is room on the 15 man roster, pick up his option and send him to the D-League. He stays there as "backup insurance" in case Baron Davis can't play or there's an injury.

2) The Kings game exposes several things for him to work on. He must recognize double teams more quickly and pass off. He must develop a pull up jumper rather than trying to force his way to the basket. Going left is important since the basic offensive set is an ISO for Anthony on the right side and PNR for STAT.

3) His D-League coach can work specifically on the pg skills required by the Knicks roster. Right now, all the pg's are shooters, and most of those available around the league are the same. Lin's game can be specifically developed to initiate this offense.

Lin isn't a prospect, nor a long term solution, therefore the Knicks will not invest much into him. He's simply a roster filler so that the Knicks have enough bodies to practice with.

Why are there so many threads devoted to a 15th man on the roster?

Waive him. He looked absolutely horrible in freaking garbage time. I usually hate getting rid of players, even if they're scrubs (like Andry Rautins and Green), but this guy is just horrible. I had hopes he'd be like Rautins with good handles but I was way off. Once Iman is back he should be gone.

When shump come back cut Lin, not like he plays enough to know what's going on anyway.

Seriously, no disrespect to anyone but if Lin wasn't Asian he wouldn't even be in the league. That's really the only intriguing element to him. I'm sure Dolan co-signed signing him just to get a few extra butts in the seats and merchandise sales. He'll be cut before the season is over.

Since I have a great admiration for asian women I will refrain from saying what I think they should do with Jeremy Lin.

Regardless of people's opinions on Lin, they all agreed your thread was awful so stop getting pissy.

I'm by no means a Lin fanboy, but I don't think its fair to write the kid off yet. Lets give him a few more opportunities in garbage time.

As for the D-League idea: I like it. Now that we finally have a D-League affiliate, it would be cool to have kids stashed over there and keep tabs on them. He could definitely make a decent chunk of change in China though, no? Maybe he'll end up doing that.

Lin played nervous against the Kings. I liked what I saw in Isiah Thomas though...

Keep him till SHump and Davis are ready to come back. Rather have a poor player then no player. At least he can play defense. What if Douglas gets injured? Whos going to play pg for us as a reserve? Fields? Melo?

Maybe he was nervous...Who knows...he could be better then what he showed last night in garbage time. Id give him another shot before i crucify him. But he doesnt look like an nba player from what i saw. But tahts only 3 minutes in gargabe time like i said.
