Amare contradicting himself

He's talking about how the Knicks need roster stability yet he wants the Knicks to bring over another Point Guard (Felton, Billups, Douglas, Davis, Lin, Nash?) to build a new system??
If he wants the Knicks to have any type of roster stability, Lin needs to be the starting point guard of this team until he proves he's not the long term solution.

Of course Stat is contradicting himself. When he said the Knicks need roster stability, that was a completely self-serving comment. Translation: What he MEANT was "Knicks, please don't trade me."
You folks need to get used to understanding Stat's comments. The guy is a liar and a fraud.

What else is new? The guy is not very intelligent. That's not a knock or attack on him it's just true.

He is saying we need a stable roster at the start of the season and before training camp starts. Stop reaching.

We do need a second good PG, especially with Lin coming off of a torn ligament and with it looking like we're going to keep Mike "Just give the ball to Melo" Woodson, regardless of whether that guy is purely a backup who runs the second unit or a vet who can challenge and teach Lin. Lin played very well but is still very unproven with a lot to improve, his D, his shot, his bouts of sloppy play, and our bench desperately lacks direction offensively, so getting a guy who can run the second unit and push/mentor Lin, is IMO one of our top needs.
That doesn't disrupt our stability unless we're getting someone who'll start over Lin, and if we can get an upgrade that'll actually push Lin to the bench like Steve Nash, well that's well worth a little stability so long as it gets done before camp and preseason. That to me is the big thing, this team needs time to just play together, get comfortable and have a coach who has the ability to come up with some ways to avoid playing 1-on-5 offensively.

These posts annoy me. Stat was always a guy who was great at finishing, he was never someone who primarily waited just off the FT line to try and dribble to the hoop. Of course he's not going to be as effective if that's what you ask him to do. Seems really dumb to get mad at the tool for you not knowing how to use it, you know?

What I want to know is what happens if Amare yells "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater.

Lets be honest... Would bringing in a new PG, especially like Nash, really disrupt any stability? There's nothing really to disrupt... The 4 guys of Melo Tyson Amare and Lin barely played together, what 7 games a month and a half ago... I know what Stat means when he says "stability" - not constantly being the revolving door etc.. But it's not like these guys have played together all year and are in sync... Adding a new few players over the off season to go through training camp wouldn't really put them any further behind than Fields or JR being back.... Outside of perception and locke room stuff..
And someone would be stupid to say they dont' want Nash - no matter who it is.... Amare for obvious reasons.
So long as the team is "put together" and assembled by training camp, or before, can mix and match all they want for all I care, if it means bringing more likely to win talent in.

He developed his jumper, he's still fully capable of being an offensive force for a team that'll use him right, that's on us. Yeah, I'd love to see him develop his post game, but I'd rather see him develop chemistry with one of our playmakers and keep focusing on being more consistently engaged defensively. He still has those brain farts where it seems like he's just not paying attention on D, but he's gotten a lot better when he is focused on it and he looked very disengaged on both ends of the court this year, he couldn't get going offensively so he never had any rhythm for the jumpers he got and he'd get disappointed/frustrated. Plus it didn't help that he bulked up to play center this year and so wasn't as quick as usual.
I understand the gripes about his defense and rebounding, those are legit, but getting mad at him for not being a great post up player is as silly as it would be for me to get mad that Melo can't create for others the way LeBron does, would I love to see that? Hell yeah, should he work on it? Sure, but there's more important things for them to work on.

This, we just need to have it all settled by camp so that everyone who's going to be part of the team can be there to gel, once that team is assembled they'll need time to gel, but right now, we're still in a transitional state, so if an obvious upgrade presents itself we shouldn't hesitate so long as we can go into camp settled.

This team is a Paul-Rondo-DWill-type and rebounding PF away from being a real championship contender.
Can we use Lin (or Shumpert) to turn Amare into space to sign DWill? Although Lin can't be "traded" NY can agree to not match the offer for Lin if the team takes Amare for a TPE or expiring contracts.

He'll probably want to bring back D'Antoni with the arrival of Nash...they can have their Suns 3som again.

Let them do it in Toronto then. Not here.
