One of things you learn in covering #Knicks is you don't cross owner James Dolan. He is a very loyal guy but when disloyalty is shown, you are done with him. That may very well be case here with Jeremy Lin. It wasn't just the money, which was obscene in third year. As we have reported last couple of days, the renegotiation of an offer sheet that was agreed upon and leaked to press - after Woodson publicly said they'd match and he'd be starter - was a kick in gut to organization.

If the luxury tax is an issue, the one thing we could be thinking about is moving Amar'e now or in the near future. Nobody else is going anywhere.

Oh, and why I think this might actually happen.
The problem is that I suspect it's not entirely a basketball decision to make the team better. I think it's a emotional decision by Dolan because he feels one-up'd by Houston's last minute manuever, and he has Felton in his ear.
It's not a sound basketball or business decision. This is Dolan getting piqued and favoring the guys who suck up to him. Felton showed up at Dolan's July 4th party, trying to schmooze his way into a starting job after he couldn't get offers from the rest of the league. Smacks of the same fascination and favoritism that Dolan showed to Isiah Thomas. Suck up to Dolan and get on his good side, and you can get him to intervene and back you up, overriding whatever good sense or advice your FO gives you. Felton looks like he's learned the trick from Isiah.
Letting Lin walk and replacing him with Felton is bad for basketball and bad for business, but that type of thing never stopped Dolan with Isiah, nor will it stop Dolan with Felton.

You know after thinking the Felton thing out a bit more, I can understand why we got him purely in the bball sense. Even with Lin here and Kidd as backup we don't have anyone besides Lin on the roster (outside of Shump who is hurt right now) who can guard opposing 1's. I initially thought this move was a bit rushed. Why put your fans through that and on top of it it's not like Felton is getting bumrushed with offers. But yeah looking at pure bball side of things, we didn't have anyone besides Lin so that was a need. Still think we are gonna match Lin but this is gonna be a long next couple of days...

Jeremy got 2 offer sheets from the rockets and only presented one to the knicks.

I just read that and makes sense if you know how Dolan operates. I think this is adieu to Lin.

Business and business. Dolan can't be this sensitive. Lin was never drafted and was cut twice. He's allowed to do whatever he needs to do to get as much money as possible.

I think Dolan is just throwing a tantrum. He'll come to his senses before the 72 hours runs out.

No he won't. He hasn't came to his senses since he became the face of the franchise...
